"She's over here." I hear Peeta say and two lots of footsteps accompanying it.

I stay lying down on the couch, still slightly in pain. I tilt my head up and see Rachel coming in with Peeta.

Rachel sets everything she brought beside the couch before sitting down in front of me. "Hey. How are you?" Rachel softly asks.

"In pain." I simply state and feel someone take my left hand. I turn my head away from Rachel to see Peeta, leaning forward on the back of the couch. I slight smile at his gesture and he sweetly smiles back.

"Katniss, can you describe to me what the pain is like?" Rachel asks and I turn my head to look back at her.

"Well, the baby nearly kicks non-stop now and suddenly I get a massive jolt of pain in the lower part of my abdomen." Rachel nods and turns to Peeta.

"How often does she get these jolts?" Rachel asks him.

"A couple of days ago it was a few in 24 hours but now it's a couple in a few hours. She's expecting her next one in...." Peeta grabs a small notebook from his jean pocket and searches through it. I'm thankful that he has kept track of them for me. "...in about 10 minutes." Peeta finishes and I turn my head to Rachel.

"Okay, I'm going to just check you but in 10 minutes when the pain comes, I want you to rate the pain to me with your fingers alright?" I nod in response and sigh.

Rachel lifts up my shirt and she feels different places on my belly. Pressurising in places and placing different equipment on my bare skin.

"Where do you feel the kicking at the moment?" Rachel asks and I place a few of my fingers just underneath the widest point of my bump. As I place my fingers down, I wince at a hard kick and see my child's feet raise my skin.

Peeta must have seen my movement as he moves closer to me. "Just a kick." I inform him and I see him reach his hand out to caress my cheek. I grab his hand as he does. "Can you sit with me?" I ask him. "I feel it coming on." I alert him and he rushes to be by Rachel.

"Okay Katniss, I'm going to keep my hand here to feel any movement. Remember to let Peeta and I know a rating by fingers." Rachel instructs and I nod.

I feel a fire beginning to burst down inside me and I let out whimper. "Sshh, it's okay. Deep breaths." Peeta calmly coos and strokes my arm.

Soon enough I feel the jolt as the pain sensation rips through me. I let out a cry of pain and close my eyes. It continues showering me and makes tears fall down my face.

"P-Peeta." I stutter and a kick makes the pain worse. I wail and turn my head towards Peeta. The fire starts to come to my lungs and my breathing quickens.

"I'm here. I'm here." Peeta comforts and I shakily hold up six fingers. The fire evaporates from my lungs and I open my eyes, the pain dying down finally. Through my tear filled eyes I reach my arms out and grab onto Peeta's hair and pull his head into my left shoulder. He doesn't mind the gesture. He's becoming more of a lifeline than I thought he was before.

The pain reduces to our child kicking and Rachel removes her hand. She writes a few things down in our notebook and when finished turns to us.

"I have some news." Rachel starts and Peeta lifts his head from my shoulder to look at Katniss.
"We still have a possible chance that the baby can wait a couple of weeks since your water hasn't broken..."

"What are you saying?" I croak and Rachel frowns.

"I'm sad to say at 33 weeks, you are in the earlier stages of labour."
