In high school, Bucky and Steve spent a majority of their summer doing yard work for friends and neighbors as a way to make some money on the side. It was a well paying job, and there was always someone who knew someone else that needed lawn service.

With it being their summer before senior year, they were trying to get as much money put to the side for college and life.

So early in the morning, and sometimes closer to the evening, just when the heat was low enough to handle, they worked hard in making their summer allowance.

This day happened to be a blistering one and in Steve's backyard. On one of their days off, Sarah had asked the boys if they would lend a hand in cleaning up their backyard. It wasn't in dire need of lawn work as much as it was in just getting it read for summer.

They cleaned up any branches that had fallen from a thunderstorm they had a couple weeks before and worked on clipping hedges and getting the picnic table by the back trees in better shape than the splintering mess it was.

It wasn't a big backyard at all, but Sarah loved to entertain, so the deck and yard was in nice condition with lights and seating to accompany any guest they had.

"We're back home, Mom!" Y/N shouted from the entrance as she kicked off her shoes with Beck behind her.

"Hey Mini!" Sarah said from the living room she was reading a book in. "How was the mall?"

"Eh, nothing special. There was only one store who really had a good sale," Y/N waved off before falling to the cushion next to her mom. Beck falling the same way on the chair across from them as if they were absolutely exhausted from the short trip.

"Did you get any of the outfits you were hoping for?" Sarah chuckled, throwing her arm over her daughter and giving her a squeeze from the side.

"Yes! I got a few dresses that will be perfect for the back to school dance," she replied in a giddy fashion.

"What about you, Becca? Did you find something too?"

"Eh, I found a possible choice, but I may still look around. Freshman year, I have to make an impression," Beck answered.

Y/N laughed knowing that Beck didn't actually care as much as she was letting off. But before she could say anything, she heard a loud noise from outside.

"What's going on out there?" she stood up from her seat and looked out the back window.

"That would be both your brothers creating a mess I'm sure with the power tools that your dad showed and then left them with. He had a lunch with a friend he had to get to, so he left them with the rest of the job on the picnic table," Sarah rolled her eyes.

"Dad left Bucky and Stevie with power tools?" Y/N questioned with a quirked eyebrow.

"It's just the sander luckily, but knowing those two, any injury is possible. Even with a spoon," Sarah groaned before standing up herself. "Hey, do me a favor and go check on them for me. I'll make them something to drink and you make sure they have all their fingers and toes please."

"Can do, Ma," Y/N laughed, motioning for Becca to follow.

Once they got out, they noticed that the boys were shouting over the sander and laughing about something. Bucky had his head down focused on the wood plank he was leveling and Steve was using a small sandpaper pad where edges looked like they needed a finish.
