Like every other day at school, [Y/n] stuck to Hariku like glue. It was a miserable day. The poor weather littered the school grounds with large puddles and mud, meaning most students delayed going out, taking cover inside.

The hallways were rather crowed, even Hariku's "abandoned bathroom" was occupied.
It pissed him off. He flexed and unflexed his fingers, grinding his teeth.

It was the sound.

The volume of the school made him want to tear his hair out. Loud wailing and whining, arguing and laughing, it was utterly ridiculous.

So much so that a thought he'd rather not of taken notice of, surfaced to the forefront of his mind.

The mere idea that he preferred just [y/n]'s pathetic company to this petulant school made him physically shiver. It was there just to show the extremes he'd take to get away from the sound. Hariku would do anything to rid himself of the current ringing in his ears.

Class began. The two boys were huddled at the back of the classroom. And, although for once in his life it looked like Hariku was paying attention, he chose not to break the record and gazed at the board.

___________

Ever since the incident, the boy's grades had been gradually plummeting to what was described to be "an utter disappointment". Often reprimanded by teachers and criticized by other students, an outsider of some manner of intelligence would believe Hariku must of internalized it and simply became the "faults".

In reality, Hariku was truly quite the disappointment but to no surprise that didn't bother him. Approval was something he was indifferent to. Many teachers threatened him with an awful future but the way the boy saw it was that if he wanted to do something;

He'd fucking do it.

If he wanted a job, he'd get one.
If he wanted a house, he'd get one.
If he wanted a girlfriend, he'd get one.

And if he wanted-

___________

[Y/n] paced around the halls, Hariku just ahead. He was still in shock that the black-ette willingly went to class. He felt lucky though, glad he had a chance to catch up a little.
He was on the brim of expulsion and quite frankly he had no idea what other schools he could go to.

Secretly the idea was a little comforting. Subconsciously the thought of his imaginary debt to Hariku having to be obstructed by a school change was nice. Of course, he couldn't want to get expelled though because otherwise [Y/n] would tear himself up with irrational guilt.

All of a sudden, a sharp jolt tore [Y/n] out of his thoughts. He whipped his head round to see a kid from his class yanking at his arm.
He looked back in Hariku's direction, seeing no notice given to his situation, he changed focus.

"[Y/n] right?"

__________

The classmate was around his height, pretty smile, dark skin tone and a warm aura. It felt weird to be around a genuinely nice person for once in [Y/n]'s life but it wasn't a bad feeling.

Akira (as their name turned out to be) held a gentle grip on [Y/n].

"I'm sorry for stopping you, I was just given instructions to talk to you"

The boy scrunched his eyebrows together in confusion. He watch his classmate walk into an empty classroom (away from the noise) and followed shortly after.

The door clicked shut, muffling the outside noise. [Y/n] played with his fingers, finding it hard to maintain simple eye contact as per usual.

"Sorry to drag you here like that but I was requested by a teacher to make an offer!"

The radiant person waved their hands around enthusiastically, continuing after seeing their words register on [Y/n]'s face.

"As you've been made aware you grades are looking pretty worse for wear - no offense intended - and well, i need an after school activity since my occult club was tragically shut down (lack of any members but that's not important-) sooooo,"

Akira waved their hand towards the boy in front of them, asking for some input.

"I-  ... do you mean like...? Tutoring?"

[Y/n] shifted uncomfortably. If he did an after school activity he'd be unable to say goodbye to Hariku.

"Yesss!! And then once i've got your grades up, in return you can join my new occult club - which they can't shut down for having no members this time - and we can be cool!!"

Akira jumped up and down excitedly.

"I'm sorry, i'm going to decline-" [Y/n] began,

"OH CRAP YEAH! I forgot to say-"

"This offer isn't optional- (the teachers say i have to make the occult club your decision though-) so you're stuck with me! By which I mean lucky you, heh heh!"

[Y/n] pinched the bridge of his nose, sighing.

"I really don't have a choice?"

The kid in front of him nodded their head vigorously, obviously not picking up on the lack of excitement.

"Alright then..."

_____________

[Y/n] was released from the fellow students desperate plea for club members and went about finding Hariku.

Oh, however he was forced to exchange numbers with the kid before escaping the empty room. It was so they could help him with any questions he had, school or occult related.

[Y/n] was told to "Report all paranormal sightings! Or- ask me for homework answers or whatever...". The boy smiled to himself a little. It was a little nice to interact with someone who didn't want him dead for once.

They were rather breath taking to be honest. Beautiful dark skin and a cute voice. It was hard to notice at first considering the overwhelming amount of excitement oozing out of the kid.

So [Y/n] decided.
