“So you want to know about the Sharingan if you want to kill the other Mangekyou holders. Indeed there is one more secret, the most important one of all,” I said.
“What is it, damn it. Answer me,” Sasuke winced.
I smirked, “Let us take a look into the past for a moment to understand the present. This tale relates directly to the history of the Uchiha, and has been replicated throughout the generations. Madara, too, once had a brother…a younger sibling.”
Through the Genjutsu I was able to cast, and the sudden understanding that not only was my fate like Izuna’s in every single way, I realised who the ‘Hikari’ was that the voice mentioned. Thanks to my eyes, I was able to show both myself and Sasuke vignettes of Madara’s past, along with the famed story told to me from the man himself.
Since they were young, the two brothers had always competed over who could become the stronger sibling.
Sasuke had to leap onto the wooden decking of Madara’s first branch home to avoid being hit by one of the brother’s punches during their sparring match. I’d caught Sasuke’s attention, and since he’d read the stone tablet his interest in Madara had heightened―I just had to extend the lies a little longer to keep Etsuko safe.
They each awakened their Sharingan and before long, even among their own clan, they became famed for their strength.
Though I looked nothing like the founding Uchiha members, the same impassive expression, deep voice and cynical gaze remained the same throughout those that plunged off the precipice of darkness. However, neither Madara nor Izuna suffered from the disease, maybe it was like Kisame said...that demon of the Uzumaki that sided with the Kohaku had cursed the Uchiha after Madara’s generation, so the next generations suffered just as bad.
As Sasuke continued to watch the Genjutsu, I flinched at the thought of the disease, it triggered a memory. Back when ‘Madara’ infiltrated Konohagakure, when he figured out that I hadn’t killed Etsuko, he wanted me to find something―a mask, a porcelain Hannya crafted by slender hands. Madara had told me that it was his lover’s and that he wanted me to find it, for that mask would hold the key to the Uzumaki demon that cast the disease. Would that be the needed cure?
Hikari was Madara’s lover, and as I was going to reveal to Sasuke, that woman’s fate would soon be Etsuko’s if she wasn’t smart enough to evade capture once more. I clutched the fabric over my chest and choked out a sob, she couldn’t be involved again, not like this. Once I collected my bearings, I continued before Sasuke realised my façade was cracking.
As they competed, they searched for a way to develop their Doujutsu further, until both brothers eventually awakened the Mangekyou Sharingan. They were the first to achieve this in the history of the clan.
The image showed both Izuna and Madara with their famed introverted patterns, images which were banned due to those trying to usurp other Uchiha leaders power in the following generations, claiming that they wanted to ‘reawaken’ Madara. Those arrogant brutes believed that Madara should be their only leader, little did they know that a woman was his Achilles heel, not blindness―but I was getting to that part slowly, I’d insert the finer details last so Sasuke could see that he was destroying any chances of redemption later on in life.
With the power they had gained, they ruled over the Uchiha. Madara, the elder, was the leader. However, something strange started to happen to Madara’s healthy body. He experienced the fate of the Mangekyou, in return for its great power…that same power destroys itself until the light is lost forever―penance for the sin to achieve such eyes.
