Chapter 17 -

- Games

Games? Enjoyment? Is it essential to life, or only an obstacle?

So the day went on like a regular school day, everyone did what they needed to do and everyone had managed to survive yet another long and boring school day. By this time the sun had already left a streak of light as it set in the horizon. It wasn't low enough to be called a sun set, but the smog and pollution made it bright and orange. The wind began to blow again as unpredictably as this book.

The doors slammed opened, the feet flew down to the floor and the children trapped themselves outside school activities. As usual everyone tried to pack out of the front gate all at once, that didn't go to well. The streets were filled with laughter and chatter, outmatching even the noise of the rushing cars.

Mark and Luke had just pushed aside the empty minded from their path and they were finally out of school boundaries. As they stepped across the concrete a curious eye caught Long who was staring up at the orange sun. It was "safe" to look at the sun because of all the pollution.

"Hey Long Over here!" They called out as they strolled across the asphalt. Long looked back, a familiar sensation as he saw Mark in his red shirt and yellow hair which blended evenly with the orange sky and sun shaded world. But this sensation wasn't focused on Mark, but more on the time he had seen this before, and what was going on in Long's life during that time. What was going on? Long wondered...

"Yo Long? Me and Mark are heading out to the shop, you coming with us?" Luke stepped to the edge of the sidewalk which marked the beginning of the school parking lot.

"huh?" Long got back to his senses, "Oh no... I have something I need to do first..."

"Dude? What's up, you've been acting strange all day man snap out of it, you're beginning to act like---"

"I'm sorry, something's been on my mind, I'm sure it'll blow eventually." Long replied looking out towards the dark side of the sky.

"Well, as long as you're not thinking about boys I guess that's all right..." Luke turned around and started walking towards the parking lot. Mark stared through the separations in his yellow hair before turning around and catching up with Luke. They stepped towards Matt's car, shortly after Matt showed up with a guitar case around his back. "Let's roll!"

The car drove off, Andrew emerged form the lessening crowd, "Just because I didn't bring my school stuff they have to keep me after class..." He muttered to him self. Long hesitated, then slowly walked over to Andrew. Andrew stopped, he just noticed Long, and his feet stood sternly in position.

"Long time no see, huh?" Long said looking at Andrew who didn't seem to excited about seeing him.

"Yeah, long time..." Andrew replied. Long noticed that there was still a bruise around Andrew's eye. "What do you want?" Andrew asked.

Long looked back at Andrew, "I.... don't know, I don't know what I want anymore...." Long said coldly. "I--- When I first started talking about making money--- This wasn't what I had in mind." Long finally spat out.

"Yeah, I know... you wanted to make a club..." Andrew said recalling all the past events they had.

"I guess this was too big a responsibility for me... after all, we're just kids right?" Long looked around observing all the people standing out in the parking lot, all the people rejoicing at the end of the day.

"Yeah, you're right... we are just kids.... but can't we still do amazing things? What does age have to do with anything?" Andrew said trying to speak his mind the best he could. "Anyone can sit in a room and age, that doesn't automatically give them wisdom and responsibility right?"
