--Josh's POV--
"I just don't get it." Lydia sobs into my shoulder."Hey it's okay." I pull her closer to me.
"I-I mean I guess we hang out but it's not like I was cheating on him." Her breathing speeds up.
"Well if doesn't believe you then he doesn't deserve you." I say.
"He wouldn't even let me explain." She's now at a whisper.
"Look at me Lydia." I say and she does.
"Huh?" She barely mumbles.
I don't speak and I just rub the tears off of her face. And she lays her head back on my chest.
"What time is it?" I ask.
"Almost one in the morning, good lord." She says checking her phone.
"What?" I simply ask.
"I've been ranting on and crying for like three hours. I'm sorry." She sighs.
"No don't be. You have every right to be upset." I reassure her.
"I just, I wish he would've listened to me like you do." She wraps her arms around my stomach.
Then she yawns, "Tired?" I ask.
"Mhm." She mumbles and nods.
"Do you want to sleep?" I ask.
"Yeah but you'll have to go to your room. My dad would flip if we were in the same bed." She laughs letting go.
"Right." I nod and stand up of her bed.
"Goodnight Josh, and thank you." She says as I walk out.
"Goodnight." I smile and close the door behind me.
"Why we're you in my daughters' room?" Lydia's dad scares the crap out of me.
"Oh, um she was upset. I was trying to comfort her." I say.
"Why's she upset?" He asks.
"Her and Geoffrey broke up." I say.
"Oh." He nods.
"Yeah." I sigh.
"Is she ok? I'm not really good with teen girl problems." He scratches the back of his neck.
"Yeah I think so, she just went to sleep." I say.
"Well good. Thank you." He nods and walks to his room.
I head to mine a fall asleep instantly.
--Lydia's POV--
"Well maybe I do love him!" I yell at Geoffrey.
"Then go, run to him!" He yells right back.
I get out of his car and slam the door. I get inside and Josh is standing in the doorway.
"Everything ok?" He asks.
"Josh I need to admit something." I say.
"What's that?" He asks.
"I really, really like you Josh. More then Geoffrey." I say.
He just stares at me. Then starts, laughing?
"You... Like... Me?" He asks between laughs.
"What's so funny?" I ask.
"What? You think I like you?" He chuckles again.
"I-I thought maybe you..." I can't finish.
"Darling, I could have anyone I want. Why would I settle for you?" He asks eyeing me up and down.
"I, um, I don't know." I say completely embarrassed.
"You're a nobody, I don't know why you would think anything so stupid." He laughs once more before walking away from me.
*I wake up gasping for breath as my head pounds. As well as my heart. Sweat is dripping down my neck and my face.
"It's still dark." I say to myself.
I check my phone for the time,
4:42 A.M
I groan and put my phone on my nightstand. I try to push the strange dream out of my mind and fall back asleep.
But no matter what I did I couldn't get his words out of my head,
"You're a nobody."
*
When I finally wake up at a decent hour both my head and my heart still hurt. When I move it hurts even more."Morning." My dad greets me as I walk out of my room.
I reply with a weak smile.
"Josh told me. About Geoffrey." He says.
"And?" I ask.
"I just want to know how you're doing." He says.
"I'll live." I mumble and head to the kitchen as I'm greeted by the last person I want to see right now.
