--Josh's POV--
"This feels strange." Lydia says.

"What does?" I ask as we continue to walk.

"Well, I haven't been single very long and I'm already-" She stops.

"This doesn't have to be a date if makes you uncomfortable." I say.

"No it's not that." She shakes her head.

"Then what is it?" I ask.

"I don't know honestly." She laughs lightly.

"Well, when you figure it out let me know." I laugh as well.

She looks to me, smiles, and looks back the other way.

"It's really pretty out." She looks at the horizon.

"Yeah I'm surprised more people aren't here." I say.

She nods in agreement as we continue to walk in silence. It's not an awkward silence either. It's just simply peaceful.

"Do you want to sit down?" I ask.

"Yeah. Sure." She says as we sit on the sand.

"Oh no. Oh no." Lydia mumbles.

"What? What is it?" I ask.

"Geoffrey. He's here." She sighs.

I look up and sure enough he's walking our way down the beach.

"Hey it's ok. Just pretend he's not." I say.

"How am I supposed to do that?" She asks, freaking out.

"Just look out at the water. Don't pay attention to him." I put my hand on her shoulder.

"Right. Ok." She nods.

--Lydia's POV--
I can do this. Don't look at him, don't pay attention to him.

"Lydia?" He calls my name.

Ok that wasn't my fault.

"Um, hi." I look up at him.

"Are you seriously on a date?" He asks sounding disgusted.

"Excuse you?" I stand up.

"I bet you don't even care. I've been heartbroken, and you're here on a date." He says.

"Are you trying to say that breaking up with me broke your heart?" I cross my arms.

"I loved you, of course it hurt." He says.

"Then why'd you do it? If it's such a big deal then why didn't you just talk to me about it? Instead of jumping to conclusions?" I ask.

"I was hurt ok? And I'm hurt even more now." He says.

"I'm not even on a date first of all, and second of all it's not my fault you were jealous." I almost yell.

"Calm down, ok? Both of you." Josh butts in.

"I hope you're happy." I grit my teeth and turn to Josh.

"Should I take you home?" He asks.

"Yes please." I mumble.

As Josh and I walk to the car I feel tears begin to fall down my face. I ignore the problems piling up and fall asleep as we drive home.
