jean was a friend you met during highschool and he has been a part of your main friend group for many years now. you and him got along really well to the point where you both had developed little crushes on each other during sophomore year. however, sophomore year was a busy year for you mentally, so you and him had never been anything more than friends. another reason for your unprogressive relationship was the lack of awareness both you and jean had regarding the other's feelings.

but regardless of your past feelings jean was a good friend and you appreciate him a lot. so that's why you allowed him to steal your aisle seat, with your seat now being in between him and armin. as class started you noticed jean writing something on a sheet of paper before turning your attention back to your professor who seems to have an abundance of energy.

"good morning kids! my name is hange zoe and i will be your professor for this biology course!," she exclaims loudly. her hand points on the board to her name and she states, "please do not call me by my last name it makes me feel like an old hag so just hange or professor hange would do!"

professor hange seemed to be pretty fun and bubbly which you appreciated. as you listened to her rant about how pollution in cities will eventually kill off humanity, you felt a tiny poke on your arm. looking over you see jean smiling and sliding the piece of paper he was writing on earlier over to you.

looking down at it you read the messy note quickly. "do you want to go to a party this friday? a lot of people are going so it'd be fun." you write down, "are you inviting the group as well?" you slide the paper back to jean before turning to armin who was listening intently to professor hange. you grab his notebook from him and start drawing smiley faces on the cover. armin looks over at you and laughs before turning his head back to look at the front of the room.

hearing the paper slide over again you look down at jean's note. with a smiley face and an "of course" written on it, you drew a smiley face as well before returning it to jean.

the rest of class passed by quickly and you were assigned to do some research on the body systems and the way they work. as professor hange said it was free to go, armin asks you and jean if you'd like to do the research together.

while packing your things up you reply, "yeah sure, where do you guys want to meet up?" you, armin, and jean begin walking to the front of the room where the door was.

"the library isn't open for another week so i was thinking maybe we should go over to one of our places," jean suggests, while zipping up his backpack before slipping it onto his right shoulder.

armin checks his phone before slipping it into his back pocket. "sorry guys, i can't do my place. the air conditioner broke so it would probably be better to go to one of your places."

you glanced over at how crowded the hallways were while trying to speak louder so armin and jean could hear you. "i think my place should be fine so i'll let eren know okay?" jean nods his head before waving bye to you and armin as he heads off to his next class.

finally walking out of the stuffy building, you and armin decided to go to a cafe for breakfast since you both had time before your next class. walking down the streets of new york city was definitely as nice as you imagined it to be, especially when you were doing it with your best friend.

it took around four minutes to get to the cafe shop, which had fish tanks and cozy booths with fairy lights hung all around the ceiling which was extremely nice. both of you decided to order a simple pastry with strawberry and cream as well as a coffee. you and armin caught up on a lot of recent news while eating.

"i can't believe my air conditioner broke. this sucks so bad," armin sulks. he takes a sip of his coffee and his mood almost seems to get better because of his favorite drink.
