☆ Young Sirius Black- Close Call ☆

Plot:
Julia Evans (Lily's twin sister) has been best friends with the Marauders since 1st year, when they protected her from bullies. Now, the friends are spending the summer holidays at James's house and Sirius turns up injured which prompts Julia to confess her feelings for Sirius.

1st year flash back:
"Filthy little mudblood." Lucius spat.
The boy was far older, taller and stronger than Julia much made her usually fiery self feel a lot meeker, especially after being hurt by such a foul insult. As Lucius got closer to Julia, feeling more impressive and intimidating, backed by his  band of cronies, Julia was forced to step further and further away from them, almost falling into the black lake.

As Julia finally tripped, a pair of arms caught her by the waist and pulled her up as his three other friends began hexing the older boys with everything they knew as first years.

As Lucius stalked away with worms for hair and hundreds or warts, Julia and the boys laughed. The boy who was holding her let go. "My names Black. Sirius Black, and these idiots are James, Remus and Peter."

That was all it took for Julia to know this was the start of a lifelong friendship.

Julia sat down beside the fire in between her sister Lily and James; it was surprisingly chilly for a summer day but the weather in Britain is always unpredictable. Rain lashed down at the windows, only making Julia appreciate James's family's hospitality even more. The only thing that was missing, was Sirius.

During the middle of a loud debate in which James reasoned that getting detention from a teacher who only found the plan for an exquisite prank was not fair, while being backed up by Peter. On the other hand, Lily thought that it was the intention that counted, therefore making it valid while Remus and Julia chatted amiably between themselves, only to be disrupted by several loud chimes echoing through the house from the doorbell.

James jumped to his feet, looking confused at the urgency of the ringing doorbell and headed towards the door. There standing bloody and bruised was Sirius Black.
"Help. Please..." Sirius mumbled using his last boost of strength before passing out, James quickly catching him.

Within seconds, Euphemia, who was James's mother, was attending to Sirius's wounds in a guest bedroom while the others sat in the passage outside, worried for Sirius's health. Soon, Euphemia left the room and gently closed the door behind her. Everyone held their breath, preparing for the worst.

"He's going to be okay." An audible gasp of relief sounded through the house. "You can go see your friend now and Sirius will be staying here with us for the foreseeable future." This earned a woop of joy from James who rushed into Sirius's room. All that Julia could make out from the conversation was "roomie", "brother" and some girlish giggling, which reassured everyone, still waiting in the hall, that Sirius was going to make a full recovery.

Everyone, now smiling, all took turns at visiting Sirius, apart from Julia.
"Julia, he's going to be okay y'know. He seems fine now." Lily reassured Julia.

"But what if he doesn't recover? What if he's not okay? What if he leaves us?" Julia asked tearily.
"Leaves me?"

"Oh Julia..." Lily replied gently,
"You love him!" Which only confirmed Julia's feelings.

"Go talk to him." Lily said as Peter left the room.

Hastily wiping her tears and steadying her breathing, Julia composed herself and walked into the room.
"Hey pretty girl!" Sirius said with a tired smile on his face.
"Wait... Have you been crying? Come here" He motioned to the empty space in his bed beside him.
As Julia sat down, Sirius wrapped an arm firmly around her shoulders.

Almost losing Sirius made Julia realise that she can take nothing for granted and Sirius deserved someone with the courage he showed today, so before she could back down, Julia looked Sirius straight in the eye and said "Sirius, I think I love you."

Sirius hugged the girl closer. "I think I love you too."

The pair sat like this on the bed for a while before James burst in. "REMUS!!! YOU OWE ME FIVE GALLEONS!"

"You bet on us!" Julia asked as the couple laughed.
"Damn right we did and now I want my bloody money Moony!"

That evening, as the group ate together at the dining room table. Sirius and Julia held hands blissfully under the table, finally happy after confessing their feelings to one another.

All was well.
