Shoelaces

Days after people still saw me perfect. I was claimed by Aphrodite. How? Nobody knows. No one can have 3 parents right? That's impossible. The last days I've been spending with Apollo cause he's the only one who sees me 'normal'.

We are learning Latin right now, but it's hard to focus. My mind is all over the place. "Evangeline? Pay attention please." Apollo says when he starts to notice that I'm somewhere else. "I just can't today. So much has been going on, I can't figure it out okay." I respond. "Sure let's go for a walk then." He says annoyed like he always does when I act stubborn.

It's all silent for a little while walking.

"So, do you like love someone in Olympus?" I ask to break the silence. "Of course, I love all my brothers and sisters." He says with a serious face just staring forward. I laugh a little. "That's not what I meant.. I mean like, are you in love with someone." He sighs after I ask that. "There was.. her name was Daphne. She didn't love me back." He says. "Was..?" He nods. "I'm sorry, I hope you will find someone who will love you back." I say with a smile. A give him a tight hug. I can feel him being shocked at first but then holding me tight back.

As I want to lean back, he holds me for a couple more seconds. We look into eachother eyes, and I can see everything, his sadness, happiness, grieve, everything. I don't want to let go. This glare made me feel something, something I haven't felt before. I got all warm and sweaty, my breath becomes havier and my eyes blink less. All I do was stare into his beautiful eyes from which I wish I could stare forever to. I leant in to kiss him but then we get interrupted by Alexis, "Hey Evangeline-" Apollo is letting me go immediately. "Oh- uhm I'll go, see you tomorrow at 10 am Evangeline." Apollo says. I nodd nicely, then he walks away.

"I'm so sorry for interrupting you!" Alexis says. "No, no it's okay. He just needed a hug like everyone does sometimes." I say friendly back. "He's lucky that he got that hug from you." I blush when he says that. "You're blushing a lil bit." He says jokingly. "No I'm not, it's just very hot here." No way he's going to believe that. "Yeah sure." He says laughing at me. "But I wanted to ask you something actually." Alexis says. "Ask away!" I respond. "Well, it's like.. I like you. And would you maybe like want to go on a date with me?" Alexis asks. "Aren't we like siblings, Aphrodite claimed me. And maybe you only like me because of that stupid curse or sum, everyone sees me perfect." He laughs almost his lungs out when I say that. "What? What's so funny?" I ask. "You really didn't pay attention to Apollo did you? Gods don't have DNA. And also I already liked you before Aphrodite claimed you." That made me blush again. I mean there is no reason that I should say no, right? Then why do I feel like there is? Don't think to much with it, just go with it one time Evangeline. "Sure! I'll go on a date with you." I say. "Okay, then meet me at 6pm at the big three on the hillow, let no one notice you." Alexis says. "I'll see you at six then." We both go our separate way.

I go back to the chamber I sleep in since my arrival here. It's now 5pm, so I have about an hour to make myself ready.

Luckily Annabeth gave me some dresses, they weren't dating material but they're dresses. I put on a black dress with a denim jacket and black all-stars under it. I put on some mascara on my lashes and my hair in a braid as always.

I go through the window, so Mr. D wouldn't see me. I run up the hill and wait next to the tree.

While waiting it feels like something touches me. I turn around but no one's there, only the tree. I look at it. I put my right hand on the tree and close my eyes. "Evangeline, you're not safe. You need to go before they know." I hear a soft voice saying that in my head. Know what? And from who am I not safe.

"Hey, you okay?" I hear behind me. I open my eyes and turn around, where I see Alexis, with a rose in his hand and a suit on. "What yeah.. sorry." I say. "Are you ready to go?" He asks excitedly. "Yes! Where are we going if I may ask?" I ask him. "We're leaving." He says. "Leaving? Like going there? Isn't that dangerous?" I ask worried. "We'll only be gone for a short amount of time, don't worry. Now let's go." I take his hand and we run down the hill.

Down the hill is standing a bike. We ride to the city, to a restaurant.

"Wow this place is amazing Alexis!" He looks at me and smiles. "Let's go inside."

I remember this restaurant from when I was younger, Karisa and I would always eat the same thing and at the same moment, after we were done we would give it a grade. I really miss her.

Alexis and I go inside, the ober brought us to a table next to the window. We eat a three-course menu, it was delicious. We laughed so much, I also think that I turned into a tomato.

It is so much fun, but I could feel eyes on us full time. Like people are staring. Well, it must be just in my mind.

Alexis asks for the bill after we're both finished. "Oh no, I don't have enough." He says. "F*ck. What do we do now?" I ask. "I have no clue." I look around the restaurant to find a solution. Then I see it, someone's wallet is almost falling out of their jacket. This isn't something right to do but it's the only solution. "I have an idea, how much money are we missing?" He counts his money. "10 dollars." I nodded. "Don't judge me for this please." I say.

I stand up and walk not suspicious to the jacket. I pretend that I need to tie my shoelaces. I stand op slowly so I can grab the wallet not noticeable out of the jacket. I take 10 dollars out of it and then stand up. "Sir your wallet almost fell out of your jacket, here it is." He turns his head around. He made me think of someone, but I couldn't place it. "Thank you, young lady." I smile, then walk back to Alexis, who is sitting there with sweaty hands.

"Here it is." I give the 10 dollars to Alexis. Surprisingly he didn't judge me, he was even impressed. He pays the bill and we leave.

"I have one last surprise." Alexis says while holding me so I don't walk away. He spins me around with my right hand which he was holding. Tears fill my eyes as I see her. Karisa was standing there. 

I run to her and she jumps into my arms. "What are you doing here?!" I ask her with tears rolling over my cheek. "Y- your boyfriend arranged it." She says. He didn't really say that he's my boyfriend, did he? "I'm sorry that I left you, I really am." I say while almost choking her in our hug. "Don't worry it's okay. But don't leave me again, pls! Take me with you, I don't care." She says with her tears falling on my shoulder. "Evangeline we need to leave! Now!" Alexis says, interrupting us. "What? Why? No pls, I can't leave her." I beg him. "I know! But look to the right, remember the woods! We need to go, they noticed us." The man of the wallet where I took 10 dollars from is standing before the window. I remember why I had the feeling that I already knew him. It was it again.
