How Much Longer Does He Have?

It was a couple hours later that Mom came back from work.
I had NO idea how i was going to tell her. It didn't seem like she cared anyway. All she's ever been worrying about lately is her, work and Dex, her new boyfriend.

"Honey I'm home!" A voice called from downstairs.

I groaned as i got downstairs, unexpectedly seeing Carson and Logan(my two best friends), which immediately cheered me up.

I've known them since pre-school, longer than I've known Skye.

"Hey mom." "Hey Carson, hey Logan!" I smiled.

And of course, there behind Mum was Rex.

"HEY BUDDY!" he yelled ruffling my hair, almost making my oxygen tube fall out of place.

"Hey" i said back, forcing a small, quiet laugh as i adjusted my tube.
I washed my hands as i heard Mom laughing loudly to another witty joke Rex had made.

I wasn't a huge fan of Rex at all. He's tried to manipulate me to go against Dad after he passed away when i was 8.
I had a hard time coping up without Dad being there and finding out Mom had gotten another boyfriend 3 months after  he died.

I think thats why I'm so afraid of me dying. It'll affect the people who i love.

Even though Mom did go and get a multiple new boyfriends after Dad's death, i still love her and i always will, though I will never forgive or forget how she did that.

I walked over to the dinner table and took a seat next to Logan.
If anything, Rex looked intimidating.

He was a bodybuilder and he had  tattoos going down his left arm and a couple on his right.
His dark black hair fell right over  his forehead, just covering his dark blue eyes.

"So how was your check-up?" Mom asked.
I'm surprised she remembered.

"It went...." I thought for a second before continuing. "...fine."
"My oxygen's gone down a little but I'll be okay if i continue attending my regular check ups and tuning."

"Well that's good," she commented before turning her head back to Rex.
that's it. "that"s good".

Logan and Carson knew i didn't have the best relationship with Mom or Rex and they might've noticed i was a bit off.
