july 15th, 2005.

hitoka was clicking her pen, waiting for the last class of the day to end. it was friday, and she was bored out of her mind. nothing new happened and hitoka finally managed to get a small break. her father made his annual home visit a few days ago and roughed her up a bit, giving her money and a sprained wrist. she couldn't do anything other than ice it and wrap it in a makeshift brace with some bandages, so she let it be. other than that, her days were spent studying for finals.

it's been a few days since she heard from takashi. hitoka knew both of them were busy studying. takashi more so since he was also taking care of his little sisters and managing a gang division. most of their exchanges happened during class when they were both stealthily texting each other.

stepping out of her classroom, praying for her father doesn't make an appearance this weekend and cause another scene, hitoka was met with another nuisance.

right in front of her were hinata and takemichi, who were picking a fight with mikey. hitoka sent a confused glance to draken, who only shook his head signaling her to let them be.

deciding to listen to him, hitoka turned on her heel, trying to get away before anyone else spotted her. that didn't work for her, because the second she thought she had escaped, mikey called out to her, "toka-chan! why don't you ride with us?"

"sorry, mikey, i'd rather go home," she said in a bored tone, not bothering to turn around.

"at least let us give you a ride?" mikey persisted. that little shit.

hitoka pinched the bridge of her nose, turning to face him, "listen here midget, i just want to get home-"

"great. then it's settled!"

hitoka couldn't believe the audacity mikey had. not only did he force her to ride with draken, they now knew where her house was. she made a mental note to stop hanging with takemichi because wherever he went, he brought new trouble. and by trouble, she meant people who got on her nerves. hitoka promised herself she would never resort to violence of any kind, but mikey was making her rethink that decision.

"we're here," draken said, snapping her out of her thoughts. plotting revenge on mikey could wait. for now, she just wanted to get in the comfort of her own home.

she got off draken's bike and thanked him, making her way to her house.

"toka-chan," hitoka waited for another dumb sentence to come out of his mouth once again, "where did you get that sprain?"

her shoulders tensed, and she glanced at takemichi. hitoka was afraid if he had revealed her secret to them. he rambled under pressure.

takemichi wore a troubled look on his face, like hitoka herself. she sent him a warning glare, silently saying he would regret ever telling them.

mikey and draken noticed the exchange and decided to question takemichi about it later. turning her attention to draken's, then mikey's eyes, she spoke through clenched teeth, "none of your business."

hitoka scoffed. who did those idiots think they were, meddling in her life like that. she knew them for a few hours at most, and they were already up her ass.

her phone was lighting up, notifying her about a new message. thinking it was takashi, she immediately relaxed, only to find out it was her father. tensing, she sucked in a breath, hoping it wasn't serious. he never contacted her unless it was serious.

hitoka's anxiety spiked. kai was coming home later, but only to collect a few things. her father found a lover. how she didn't know, and she didn't care. that meant he would come home less often, choosing to spend time with the poor woman. hopefully, that also meant fewer unannounced visits from him.
