I pestered star boy yesterday. And the day

before that. And before that.

And every time I see hidden bruises on his

pretty face.

But it was today. It was today that star boy

lashed out at me.

He told me that I didn't even know his

name. He told me that I was just going

to use him.

He yelled at me to just go away.

And he just looked at me in disbelief.

I told him I wouldn't hurt him. I told

him: I just wanted to be friends.

I asked him what his name was. I

finally asked star boy what his name

was.

His name is George. A pretty name

for a pretty boy.

I tell him my name is Dream.

And he scoffs and says everyone at

our school and further knows my

name.

Basketball star, he mocks. All the girls

swoon over me, he mocks.

I tease him, tell him I don't think of him

in that way. With our faces so near each other.

star boy just clears his throat, blush spreading

on his cheeks. And he awkwardly murmurs,

"Of course of course. Me neither."

He stands up grabbing his books, and he tells me

to leave him alone.

I just tell him I'll see him tomorrow. And he gives

me his pretty scowl.
