"What did you two do?"There you stand in all your glory. Your brow raised, your eyes narrowed, your hip cocked, arms crossed as you stare at your two newest patients. The tapping of your foot is drown out by their heartbeats in their ears.
"We had an accident..." Hoseok explains, rubbing his nape. Jimin points to Hoseok's nose, where two streaks of blood come from his nostrils. Hoseok points to Jimin's forehead, where blood dribbles down from a wound hidden by his hair.
"Why would you make a big fuss just for me to come and see you?"
"You do remember what we said last night, right?" Hoseok asks, making a face that you can only describe as innocent.
"Oh, I do remember. I just don't care."
They both look at you, almost as if they're startled.
"Okay, whatever- just- I'll treat you, but then you have to go."
They smile solemnly, nodding.
You walk over to the counter at the end of the room, sanitizing your hands before slipping your latex gloves on. "You both drove straight here from..?"
"Our dance studio that we own."
Your heart swells. They always dreamed of opening a dance studio together where they taught all ages to do what they love.
Dance.
You nod, trying not to tear up. For some reason, you feel... proud.
Wordlessly, you walk up to Hoseok and tilt his head back and forth, side to side, loosening him up before you tilt his head back and look into his nasal cavities with a little flashlight you fetch from your coat pocket.
You gently touch and prod at his nose, the man whining. "Ow..."
"Ok, so it's definitely not broken, and it's definitely not going to break anytime soon, as long as you take care of it. It will bruise and you will need to wear a nose bandage, but that's the extent to your injury. Be lucky it just popped." You set the flashlight on the bedside table beside you.
Hoseok nods, savoring the way you cup his cheek.
He wants to cry when you move away from him and onto Jimin.
"And you."
You do the same pre-check routine for Jimin, before you tilt his head down and feel around for anything that seems abnormal.
You step away from Jimin for a second, the male frowning, his expression going blank once you grab your flashlight and step forward again.
You feel around his head, parting his hair and searching for his cut. "Tell me how this happened."
"Well, me and Jimin were practicing this new dance for our competition, when he fell to the ground. I leaned down to help him up, but then he tipped his head up really quick and hit my nose."
"I see... well you'll both be fine, just-"
"Jimin? Hoseok?" You hear an all too familiar voice yell from the hall.
"Son of a bitch," you sigh, shaking your head, exasperated.
"We're in here, Jin..." Hoseok shouts, Jimin wincing as it makes it to his ear.
Jin comes running in, panting and searching for the two in the large sterilized room.
"Oh thank goodne- oh."
The air is knocked out of his lungs as his eyes land on you.
"Hello, Seokjin-ssi, how are you today?"
His mouth goes dry as he tries to grasp onto the fact that he's in the same room as you and you're not running away. That you're here and you literally can't leave him again.
"I'm- uh- I'm doing fine."
"That's good to hear..." you smile awkwardly. "Wait, what are you doing here..?"
"I'm their emergency contact..."
"Ah, I understand."
There's a beat of silence.
"They had an accident, but they're all good now... no dancing for a few days and they both need to ice their injuries. Hoseok's nose, Jimin's head."
"Okay, thank you..."
It's almost as if he's too stunned to speak.
"If that's all, then-" you begin to walk out of the room, not wanting to be in there any longer.
"Uh, wait-"
As you're about to step out of the room, you hear Hoseok call out to you.
"I have to ask... why did you leave all those years ago?"
You laugh bitterly, your head tipping back as you hug yourself for comfort.
"Why do you think, Hoseok? I would think it'd be obvious. To all of you. If you really can't think of it, think back to that night."
With that, you step out from under the doorway, walking away from the room, beginning to feel everything from that night creep back to you.
You walk back into your office and slam the door shut behind you. You stumble over to the small leather couch on the left side of the room and plop down on it, your head in your hands as you sob.
God, was it rough.
Left a bad taste on your tongue.
Why?
Because your first loves and heartbreaks never leave. Even if you thought you were done with that stuff, it wasn't done with you.

As Hoseok and Jimin are checked out of the hospital, sacks of ice held to their injured body parts, Seokjin tsk's at them. "What were you two thinking?"
"Us?! What about you, Mr.Um-uh-um!" Jimin spouts off, feeling irritated.
"Hey!" Jin pouts, shaking his head dismissively.
"We really did have an accident, Hyung, but when we found out Y/N was working at this hospital, we couldn't help it."
"Yeah, yeah, tell it to the guys who are all waiting at home. You guys have a lot of explaining to do."
They walk to Jin's car, which is parked close to Hoseok's, in silence, each gnawing on what you said.
"Do you think- hmm- what do you think Y/N meant when she said think back to that night..?" Hoseok asks, the line stuck in his head.
"Um... let's talk about it when we get back..." Jimin says, already having a feeling he knows what you mean.
—
"That's what she said?" Jungkook asks.
"That's what she said..." Jimin confirms.
"Well, what does she mean by that," Taehyung questions, his eyebrows furrowed as he thinks.
"Um, I have a feeling I know what she means by that," Jimin answers, looking at his best friends.
"And what might that be?" Yoongi quirks an eyebrow, frowning.
"Well..."
