The crossing.

Chapter 3

After 3 hours
Of endless walking... I began to get worried...

Looking out from all the wheat and the trees everywhere.... there was nothing.

No towns, buildings, shelter.

You could just look out and all there was to be seen was trees scattered and little hills and wheat covering the ground.

"Cameron." I said

"Mhm?" He said looking back at me while walking

"I'm sure they were right about how people die out here. " I said..

" Well there must be something out there. I'm sure of it... and when we find it, we'll be sure that whatever they said was just to scare us. " Cameron said walking a bit faster because it was going downhill

" But... well.... okay. " I said just kicking the wheat numerous times before Cameron started laughing

" Hey, just so we could make this fun we should have a race " he said while smirking

I chuckled " fine. lets do it. "

" 1...2................
Cameron said sooooo slow

" THREE!!!!!! " I said and I started running

Cameron caught up to me and we were both laughing and running past numerous trees.

I can say, this was quite beautiful though.

We came upon the top of a bigger hill.

" Well well well would you look at that. " Cameron said looking down at something

"What ? " I said

" Look. " he said pointing down the hill.

I looked down and there was what it looked to be a town.

Well he was right.

Maybe this isn't so bad after all

" C'mon " Cameron said walking down the hill

I went after him walking slowly...

Then I saw what it looked to be a figure of a tall man

" Uhhh Cameron where are you... " I said while walking slowly on the dirt road that entered the middle of the unknown town

I started getting scared

Who was that man?

Where did he go?

" Camero-

Then the figure of the tall man swished right past me

" CAMERON " I yelled out

Then I saw Cameron running to me and dropping bags that he must've found

" What happened? Are you alright? Are you hurt? Are you sure your okay? " Cameron said so fast I could only make out the words ' are you hurt? '

"No I'm not hurt but there's someone here " I said going over to Cameron because I was scared

" Who ? "

" I don't know it looks like it's a tall man "

Cameron started looking everywhere

Until he spotted the tall figure.

"Cameron I'm scared-

" Shhhhh it's okay you just have to be quiet " he said while wrapping his arms around me

I felt safe..... like no one could hurt me.

It feels like.... I don't know the word for this.. it feels like....

Home.

That feeling like when I would be with my mum in the small living room having soup together and watching movies on the Telly.

Back at town gress they strict most movies and they don't allow tv shows from what they call ' the other worlds '

I hope to see them someday.

In most of the movies I see the places there in have tall tall buildings that go really high up.

It's beautiful.

I want to go there actually. I want to learn the ' normal ' ways of life instead of the strict ones I was put to ever since I turned 9

Cameron let go of me only to point to the man who was coming closer. then he wrapped his arms around me again only to hold me tighter than before

" What do you want " Cameron said in a cold tone.

" I'm so sorry if I scared you but that young lady of yours looks quite familiar to me " The tall man said finally coming out of the shadows

I wiggled out of Cameron's grasp and looked at the guy

" and..... I don't recall us ever meeting..? " I said

" No no dear we've never met I've only seen you walking by the other trees back there. " he said

" oh " I said with no tone.

" We've got to go the sun is going down " Cameron said

" Okay c'mon then " I said walking past the tall man

It's been 5 hours of walking...

" Cameron I think were gonna die out here " I said whining

" As long as you die with me then I've got no problem with that " Cameron said

I started smiling

Cameron looked at me and smirked
" Oh so I made you smile ? "

" Pshhh no no " I said trying to get rid of my smile

" That's because you love me " he said smiling to himself

" Oh shut up " I said pushing his shoulder

While we were walking I noticed something about the ground

There was no more wheat.

Just green green grass and flowers scattered everywhere.

No more hills.

Just grass and flowers.

Then Cameron had a blank look on his face...

" What's wrong Cameron ? " I said

" We made it to new york... " cameron said still staring at this sign that said

' welcome to New York! '
