𝐈𝐧 𝐚 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭, 𝐟𝐚𝐫 𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐲...
Finn Mikaelson woke up.
He had always been pulled into this forest. It was beautiful, bright, and filled with nature, even though it was just a dreamscape.
An escape from that endless dark horizon..
He smiled and adjusted his eyes to the sunlight, sitting up in a more comfortable position.
Even though this place was beautiful, Finn felt lonely. He was always alone here. He could think and finally have a chance to breathe. But he felt like something was missing, someone to make him feel less alone. He sighed deeply and got to his feet, immersing himself in the familiar sound of nature.
The rush of the wind through the trees.
The sweet song of the birds.
The light trickling of the crystal stream.
The soft , careful steps of small animals scampering by.
He breathed in that earthy, humble scent of nature. Wet soil after the rains and the scent of the sparkling dew on the grass.
Finn Mikaelson smiled and walked the familiar route he always took for his morning walk of the day.
He picked up a small, white bunny rabbit as he went along, stroking its soft fur, humming a soft tune underneath his breath as he went. He couldn't shake the feeling that something was amiss..
Like someone was here.
But who?
He cleared his throat and scratched the bunny behind its ears, making the bunny thump its legs contentedly against his arm. He smiled and continued to walk until he got to the stream.
But then he stopped dead in his tracks.
A girl was at the stream, laughing at a deer that was beside her.
She had lovely dark skin that glowed in the sunlight, she had gorgeous purple hair that danced in the wind..
but her laugh was the best of all. It made him feel...
Alive!
He smiled softly as his undead heart roared to life in his chest, keeping the bunny close by. He did not want to scare her.
But the girl seemed to sense his presence nearby and she looked up, a smile on her soft lips.
"Hello," she greeted him, nodding her head in acknowledgement.
Finn felt weak in the knees just looking at her smile. He shuffled closer, but made sure not to go too fast. He didn't want to scare her. "Hello," he greeted back, nodding his head at her with a smile.
The girl giggled and Finn found himself smiling brightly. He didn't smile often, but he knew that he would be smiling a lot more from now on. The girl brushed her hand through the crystal lake, her gentle movements causing ripples to appear. "This place is beautiful, is it not?" She asked, her eyes on the water.
Finn felt his heart lurch and he nodded his head enthusiastically. "So beautiful," he practically swooned, his hazel green eyes fixed on her instead of looking all around him.
The girl hummed and stood up, brushing her white dress out, drying her hand before walking up to him. Her dark eyes were fixed on the bunny and he gulped. He wasn't used to people coming up to him at such a close distance.
He gently held his arm out so she could pet the bunny. "Such a beautiful little thing," she said with a laugh, drawing a chuckle from Finn.
"Yes, so beautiful," he replied, his eyes on her once more. He wanted to see this girl in real life, instead of this strange dreamland. But it was the most real thing he had. She hummed and continued to stroke the animal.
The bunny seemed to enjoy all the attention and it made happy noises, thumping around. "Oh how delightful!" She squealed in happiness as her eyes sparkled.
Finn looked at her in awe, laughing as well. It had been ages since he had laughed. "What is your name?" He blurted out and he immediately kicked himself.
The girl winked at him, making his stomach flip.
"That's for me to know and you to find out," she wittily answered, making colour rush to his cheeks. He had to turn away before he embarrassed himself further.
It was such a shame that it would take nine hundred years for him to see her on the physical plains of the world.
