She wanted to be alone so she could wallow in her sadness. Her parents still weren't at home, and that made her feel even more terrible. She didn't want to be in a huge mansion alone, with just staff bustling around, doing their daily chores. But, a part of bet was glad that they were away. They were the reason for her broken heart.
She couldn't concentrate in school. She was in English class, but she didn't even listen to whet the teacher was saying. She was too focused on what happened hours ago. Mrs Peterson, her teacher travelled her beady eyes around the room until they rested on Isis.
"Miss Blackwood, care to help me analyse 'Poppies' by Carol Anne Duffy?" She asked with a raised eyebrow. Isis was tired. She shook her head. "No. I'm sorry, I'm not feeling to good," she said with a wince. The teacher narrowed her eyes at Isis, but decided to drop it, asking the next person. Isis swallowed the sharp, bitter lump in her throat and tried to focus on her work.
She managed to get through the lesson without walking out. So many things were going through her brain. But one thing stood out to her. The fact that she couldn't be compelled. Did her parents slip vervain into everything? But wouldn't that burn them?
There were so many questions to figure out. And not to mention that she had to figure out what Finn was to her. She had been through a lot recently. She wished that the world could stop spinning for a few moments. She really needed to think.
As soon as the lesson ended, she packed her tings away at top speed, rushing out of the classroom. But she was stopped by Bonnie. "Isis, are you alright?" Her voice was worried, her dark eyes searching Isis' face.
Isis took a deep breath.
"I'm OK, Bonnie. Really." Isis had to make sure her voice was level. She couldn't break down or cry in front of her friend. But Bonnie didn't look convinced. "It's lunchtime now. Let's spend some time together," she said with a gentle smile.
Isis bit her lip in thought. Surely spending lunch with Bonnie wouldn't hurt, right? It would be alright. Isis nodded her head in agreement. "I'll eat lunch with you," she replied at last. On the way, she heard students whispering. "Yeah, apparently his throat had been ripped out." "I didn't like him, but it's a shitty way to go."
