"It's Cold"

Ezra shivered. Even with the fire going, it was still cold.

Thrawn was... somewhere on the wretched planet, leaving the Jedi to his own defenses.

Ezra pulled the emergency blanket tighter around his shoulders, shivering madly. He threw a few dead leaves onto the fire, but it didn't seem to do anything. The sound of a twig snapping made him jump to his feet, ready to attack. The glowing red eyes of Thrawn appeared.

A smirk appeared on Thrawn's face. "Were you going to attack me?" he asked, amused. Ezra dropped his stance.

"Can never be too careful," he mumbled, another shiver going down his spine as he returned to his sitting position in front of the fire. "Especially out here," he added.

Thrawn nodded and sat down across from Ezra, watching the boy closely. He noted the shivers and how long it was between each one. He frowned.

Humans were more susceptible to the cold. Chiss were made to deal with low temperatures, but humans certainly were not.

A/N lemme just say that I love writing Thrawn and Ezra with a sibling dynamic even if they're mortal enemies. It's just fun to write and read in my opinion. I might do some more aggressive banter later on, like a conversation that Thrawn and Ezra actually would have.

Ezra pulled the blanket tighter around him again. Thrawn didn't seem to notice the cold at all.

"Aren't you... Aren't you cold?" Ezra asked timidly. Thrawn mentally noted the shiver.

"No," the Chiss replied casually. He grabbed a few more sticks and threw them onto the fire. Ezra needed to warm up, at least a little, or they'd have a case of hypothermia to deal with. That is, if they didn't already.

Ezra shrugged. "Alright," he said, not questioning it. The cold grabbed at something inside of him and he couldn't stop shaking. Even with long sleeves and a blanket around his shoulders, he felt like he was freezing.

Thrawn moved over so he was next to the Jedi, then threw two more sticks onto the fire.

Ezra hesitated, then moved slightly closer to Thrawn and his warmth. When the Chiss didn't protest, he shifted so that their bodies were almost touching.

"Sorry," he mumbled.

"For what?" Thrawn asked, looking at him.

Ezra shrugged. "Well you don't like me and I'm over here really close to you."

"You need to be warm. I don't mind," Thrawn replied. After a second, Ezra leaned slightly. He just wanted warmth.

Kriff, he was cold.

Thrawn's eyes widened ever so slightly. Ezra's body was freezing cold to the touch. No wonder the boy couldn't stop shivering. He didn't protest when Ezra leaned into him.

Well, isn't this a turn of events, Ezra thought. He was my enemy and now we're here, sitting together and I'm kriffing leaned into him.

Neither of them cared. Thrawn didn't mind and Ezra finally found some sort of warmth.
