"I dont really see the big deal"
"It's not like they're actually dating"
"But she was totally all up on him"

Gossip.

Ashley wasnt a fan of the meaningless gossip. She never was. But her 'friends', they were all about it, so she was forced to just listen. Occasionally she would give a few nods, not really knowing what was happening. High school was going to be the death of her. She was always the one to just stand there, twisting her ponytail. Looking down, she realized how long her hair has gotten.

Before she could think anything else of it, she heard yelling. She looked over her shoulder and seen two boys, most likely in the same year, or a year above.

"TANAKA GIVE IT BACK!!" a short, spiky haired boy yelled. The one supposedly named Tanaka was holding a book in the air, out of the others reach.

"Gotta jump for it" Tanaka said with a cheeky grin. The other did just that. He jumped and missed it, receiving a few laughs from others around.

"You asshole" he said before stomping on Tanakas foot, making him drop the book. The other picked it up and stuck his tongue out.

"Noya you- I'm telling Daichi" Tanaka said kneeling down as he examined his foot. Noya just laughed and ran in the direction of the gym.

"Ashley? ASHLEY"
Ashley jumped and looked forward. Her friends were trying to get her attention for who knows how long. Not that she minds not listening. She'd rather do anything else. Ashley quickly apologized and answered the meaningless question that was asked.

RING RING RING

Finally. She could escape this conversation.

"I have to go, talk to you guys later" Ashley smiled and waved off, and she walked to her designated class. She walked at a decent pace, holding her books infront of her. If she was honest, she would rather do anything else than go to this class. First day means introducing yourself. Introducing yourself means drawing unnecessary attention to yourself.
When she found her class, she peeked in and seen the Tanaka kid from earlier talking to a girl. By talking, I mean trying to hard to flirt. The girl had a blank expression and sat down. Ashley got a better look and realized that was Kiyoko Shimizu. No wonder he didn't get a reaction. Ashley walked in the class and took the seat next to Kiyoko, being that was the only familiar face in the classroom. She got the correct book out for this class and the final bell rang, sending students to their seat. Tanaka sat in the chair infront of Kiyoko. Most likely so he can turn around and look at her. Ashley looked at Kiyoko from the corner of her eyes.
Pretty.
Ashley wasnt the most confident when it came to her body and looks. She was tall, broad shoulders. She didn't always hate it though, only when compared to other girls. She hated when people would do that, but here she is, doing the same thing with Kiyoko. Ashley sighed internally and opened her book, trying her best to distract herself.

"Ashley Azumane?" And it starts. She looked up to the teacher and noticed everyone staring at her.

Ashley quickly said here and the teacher moved on. Most of the students turned back, but some kept looking. Please stop staring.. she thought to herself. Ducking her head, she focused back on the book. Staring made Ashley self conscious, and she didn't need to feel this way in the first day.

The teacher handed out a paper to pass around the room for signed attendance. When it got to Ashley, she scammed over it.

Name:
Pronouns:

Pronouns? She wasn't really sure why this was important but she wrote "she/her/hers" and passed the paper on. Pronouns. Can't someone just tell by looking at you.. it's not like you can change them..

The rest of the class was just the teacher explaining the goals and plans for the year. After the class was dismissed, Ashley grabbed her books and started off to the next class. Then after this class, she has a break, and planned on going to the library to pass time. She glanced down as she looked for the correct class. Walking into a random room was something she was terrified of. She found the class and ran her eyes over the room number and her schedule just to... quadruple check.. Better safe than sorry.

Walking in, she chose a seat in the back, mainly for two reasons. 1. Shes tall. 2. Better to stay away from people. She sat down and took out her book. Hopefully this class isn't as crowded. She looked around the room at the posters and as she looked towards the door, a gray haired guy walked in talking to a dark haired guy. They were laughing at a joke that was told and made their way to the back. Ashley looked away to avoid coming off as weird. They say in the row next to Ashley.

She reached over to get a pencil and when she turned back, she knocked the book off the desk. Great.

"Here ya go Miss, I'm sugawara by the way, you can call me suga though" he said with a smile. Ashley took the book and gave a shy smile back.

" Thank you.. I'm Ashley"

"Nice to meet you Ashley" Suga pointed back to the one he walked in talking to, "and this is my boyfriend Daichi". Daichi looked over and waved.

Boyfriends?

"Nice to meet you too" She said and looked back to her book. Please don't fall again.

This class was basically like the last. The pronouns option came up again and she wrote the same thing as she did. The more she thought about it, the more it seemed odd to her.

Not pronouns in general.

Just.. her pronouns.
