One thing Brooklyn was not prepared to face was the amount of support for Cedric Diggory that rose in every direction...and the amount of vile bullying towards Harry Potter.
The badges were ridiculous, Brooklyn had a permanent scowl on her face every time she saw someone proudly wearing them and snickering about how 'Potter Smells' and 'Cedric rules', truth be told, she almost hexed a bunch of wizards and witches for their sly remarks about her friend.
So naturally, when she found herself in the quad without Neville to hold her back as her eyes met Ronald Weasley and Seanmus Finigin talking to Harry Potter, she simply had to join in on all the fun.
"What's up guys?" She quizzes at them as she walks over, stepping beside Harry quickly to show she's on his side of things. "Planning new mugs that you need Harry's approval of?" She asks slyly.
Ron pulls a face at her words and glances over to Seanmus with an eye-roll as he scoffs out a, "sod off, Brooklyn"
Harry pursed his lips together as he watched the girl's hairs slowly reveal a shade of red that he knew didn't mean any good things, she held out her wand carelessly and placed it and Ron's chest. "Listen here, Ronald. One more badge, mug or whatever smart remark you think you may have. You need to keep it all to yourself because IF I hear one more thing that your started, your mother's wrath is going to feel like nothing against mine. Am I clear?" She questions as she pokes him harder with the wand, making him flinch slightly as she smiles lightly and pulls the wand away. "Good, now stay away from my friend"
Brooklyn turns to see a shocked expression on Harry's face, ignoring that the other two boys were walking away from them slowly as if any sudden movements would set her off on a rampage.
"Are you alright, Harry?" She asks as the red fades away from her hair.
"Brilliant, thank you" Harry nods at her, making a grin present itself on her face as she gladly accepts the thanking.
"I'll leave you be for now, let me know if there is any trouble" Brooklyn smiles at him, nodding slightly at his still shocked expression before she turns away and heads the same way that leads to the greenhouse, her hair fully returning to its natural colour as she sighs to herself about the dramatic lifestyle of a Gryffindor.
Brooklyn skidded around the Greenhouse's open glass pane doors and came to a sudden stop as she reached the sight in front of her, Neville Longbottom was sat happily with one of his many plants as a smiling Hannah Abbott had a hand placed on his arm as she chattered on to him about something that Brooklyn did not know of.She felt her hair begin to feel different as she watched them together, her eyes remaining on the girls hand that was on Neville's arm. Her hair suddenly had shades of white upon it, of course it wasn't her that noticed this, only Neville.
"Brooklyn!" He smiled when he caught sight of his friend stood awkwardly in the doorway, he didn't feel Hannah's hand pull away from his arm as his attention was drawn to Brooklyn's hair. "Are you feeling okay?" He was suddenly worried about his friend in the doorway, so much that he stood up to his feet quickly.
Brooklyn began to walk towards them slowly as Hannah glanced between the witch and Neville carefully, looking conflicted all of a sudden. "Hi Neville" Brooklyn answered his greeting, just as he reached her and grabbed onto both of her hands quickly.
"Are you alright? White means you're worried or stressed about something, doesn't it?" Neville took a moment to examine her hair as he nodded to himself, "it does mean that, do you want to talk through it together?"
"I think I'll take my leave" Hannah Abbott states quickly, picking up her bag from the floor as Brooklyn's eyes do not shift from her, a strange feeling had occurred within Brooklyn and now that Hannah announced she was leaving-it changed to satisfaction?
"Bye Hannah" Neville turns for a moment to give her a small smile before he turns back to Brooklyn, raising his hands to hold onto her cheeks, making Brooklyn's attention quickly switch to meet Neville's worried eyes. "I need an answer Brooklyn, are you alright?"
When Hannah saw that she wouldn't be getting any other goodbye she let out a small sigh before she flashed a genuine and shy smile towards Brooklyn, before she practically fled the greenhouse. Brooklyn felt a wave of happiness, causing her hair to return once more to its brunette shadings.
"It's gone away, was it Hannah? I know you don't like new people..." Neville fussed over her and she ignored his words of comfort as she blankly turned into her bunched up mind, she had no idea what had just happened.
