"Alastor Moody." The teacher presents himself before writing his name in chalk on the board, Brooklyn say there with a bored expression as Neville drew away anxiously on her hand with one of her muggle pens that he admired so much.

"Ministry malcontent. And your new defence against the dark arts teacher. I'm here because Dumbledore asked me, end of story, goodbye, the end. Any questions?" He asks sharply, his voice was so snappy and cruel that it seemed unknown to Brooklyn, she didn't the man's aura and she could tell that Hermione didn't either. "When it comes to the dark arts, I believe in a practical approach. But first,
which of you can tell me how many unforgivable Curses there are?"

"Three sir" Hermione answered unsurprisingly, trying to push aside her own feelings as she suppressed the feeling to squirm under the presence of their new teacher.

"And they are so named?" Mad eye asked her as he scribbled it down messily on his board, the chalk rubbing made Brooklyn blanch back as she leaned closer to Neville, who seemed unproblematic in that moment.

"Because they're unforgivable, use of anyone of them..." Hermione shook her head, she definitely did not approve of this lesson.

"Will earn you a one way ticket to Azkaban. Correct. Now the ministry says you're too young to see what these curses do. I say different! You need to know what you're up against, you need to be prepared,
you need to find somewhere else to put your chewing gum other than the underside of your desk Mr Finnigan!" With the mention of her friend, Brooklyn Snapped her head over to where Seamus paused in his place next to Dean, who was holding on to the table like life support.

"Aw no way, the old codger can see out
the back of his head." Seamus shook his head.

Mad eye threw his chalk at the young wizard in anger and looked over the class harshly with his glass eye, and Brooklyn raised her head slightly as she looked over the man's features, he seemed more...well made than she had heard of.

"So, which curse shall we see first? WEASLEY!"

Ron shook and forced out a shaky, "yes..."

"Give is a curse"

"Well, my dad did tell me about one... The imperious curse." Ron answered unsurely, and Brooklyn watched as the Mad man turned intrigued.

"Ahhh yes, your father would know all about that. Gave the ministry quite a bit of grief a few years ago. Perhaps this will show you why." What does he mean 'the ministry' wasn't he apart of it?

Mad-Eye pops open a jar with a strange spider in it, making Neville freeze the pen in its place on Brooklyn's hand, and the girl swapped the pen with her hand in his, giving him a reassuring squeeze.

"Hello. What a little beauty."He welcomed the creature onto his hand before he lowered his wand and cast the curse quickly, he then used his wand to send it around the class. This was illegal?

The class screeched and flinched around as Brooklyn watched it with a blank expression, she didn't mind any sort of creatures, Neville on the other hand...was squeezing her hand sharply as he tried to hide his figure behind hers.

"Don't worry. Completely harmless."

But, the class remained unsettled despite the way he tried to 'calm them'.

Malfoy chose his moment to laugh about how the spider was suddenly attached to the screaming Patil twins and Ron, before the spider-like creature was flung at Malfoy, making him release a girly scream as his guards tried to whack it off.

"Talented isn't she? What shall I have her do next? Jump out the window? Drown herself?" Brooklyn watched the spider as it attempted to fight the curse as it was floating above the water, trying to grip onto whatever life it could have, it was a heartbreaking scene. Mad eye retreats it to his ready palm, people had calmed down and were actually now intrigued.

"Scores of witches and wizards have claimed that they only do did you-know-whose bidding under the influence of the imperious curse. But here's the rub, how do we sort out the liars? Another.. another..
Come on come on." Brooklyn was shocked when Neville pulled his hand away from hers and Rose it shyly, Mad eye picked him out quickly. "Longbottom is it? Up."

Neville stood up slowly as Brooklyn stared at him with wide eyes, turning around to see Seamus watching with interest as Dean was cringing, she quickly turned back to the front.

"Professor Sprout tells me you have an aptitude for herbology."

"Theres the uh...The cruciatus curse" Neville answers, and Brooklyn's features drop at the mention of the curse that rolled off of Neville's tongue in a hesitation.

"Correct! Correct! come come. Particularly nasty. The torture curse." Mad eye flicks his wand at the spider and it begins the torture, the spider squeal out in agony, begging for help in its own little voice as Brooklyn sinks in her seat as she can see Neville linking it to his parents very slowly in his head.

Neville began to shake, only going quicker and quicker as the screaming got louder and so did the memories that pounded in his head as a miserable reminder.

"Stop it!" Rosie shouted out loud, which caught the attention of everyone, Brooklyn was thankful for the girl that demanded he stopped "stop it! Can't you see it's bothering him?!"

Mad eye glances at Neville and stopped the curse on the spider, he then picked it up and walked over to Rosie as Brooklyn grabbed Neville and pulled him down to the seat. Neville was dazed out of it as Brooklyn pulled his hands to hers and rested his head against her shoulder so he could have a shielding from everyone else.

"Perhaps you could give us the last unforgivable curse Miss... Deaver" Mad eye says and places it down on her desk, making Brooklyn turn slightly and glare at the man who seemed to be torturing this Rosie girl now.

She shook her head sadly and turned her head to se did Neville was okay, but found him staring down at his desk as his head rested on Brooklyn's shoulder, who was looking at Rosie with wide eyes.

She turned back and met her professor in the eyes.

He casts the spell quickly and Rosie lets out a shaky breathe as she saw the life of the creature disappear in front of her. Mad eye walked away quickly from the witch and towards the front.

"The killing curse. Only one person is known to have survived it. And he's sitting in this room."

The class turned to Harry with wide eyes and he sadly glanced over to the spider, seeing that the only person who wasn't looking at him was watching the spider with dismal eyes.
