Ji Changmin shoved his hands in his pockets, looking up at the 5-story dorm building. He wanted to go in, but couldn't help but linger by the entrance.

Eventually, he made it through the front door, and took the stairs up to Chanhee's floor.

After climbing four flights of stairs, he went down the hallway. It looked a little different than he last remembered, but all the hallways in the building were built the same way and a little redecorating could change a lot about them.

Maybe I'm on the wrong floor, Changmin thought to himself, peering at the dorm room doors. 401, 403, 405 on the right... He frowned, trying to recall Chanhee's room number.

Changmin looked down the hallway for dorm rooms 415-430. It was just as empty as the rest of them.

He sighed in mild frustration, walking past the rooms. 415, 417, 419...

The boy stopped in front of the door for room 421, which was opened just a crack.

He slowly pushed open the door a little, peeking inside—

Suddenly, the door was jerked from his grasp, and a male student came running out, tripping over Changmin.

"Oh shit—!" the other boy exclaimed, helping Changmin back up, who rubbed his head dizzily. Am I seeing things or is he holding a bat?

Sure enough, there was a wooden baseball bat in the other boy's grasp. "C'mon, we need to get out of here!" 421 urged, grabbing Changmin's hand and practically dragging him down the rest of the hallway.

From the room emerged a deformed humanoid creature, with no face, but a strange smile that stretched too far for comfort. It had long, lanky limbs, and knuckles that dragged against the floor. The monster released a deep, guttural roar, andleaped after the two boys.

Changmin ran faster.

The boy from 421 turned left at one corner, and then right. But maybe he should've turned left at the second corner, because they soon reached a dead end.

"Fuck." The boy gritted his teeth, turning around. "I hate this building."

The creature was right behind them, making a strange cracking sound, but Changmin couldn't tell where the sound was coming from — its mouth or its joints. It grinned at its cornered prey, and made a motion like it was rolling its shoulders back. Getting ready for the kill.

Chills ran down Changmin's back, and he subconsciously moved behind the other boy (hey, the dude had a whole bat, for God's sake).

The creature lunged at the two, baring sharp, pearly-white teeth. The boy swung hard, smacking the creature right in the side of its head, crashing into the opposite wall.

It jumped at the boy again, but he swung for the second time, hitting it this time square in its jaw. Changmin cringed at the sound of breaking bones — unless that was just the monster making weird noises again.

Frustrated, the creature changed sights, eyeing Changmin, and lunged.

Changmin shut his eyes. He stood there, bracing for the unbearable pain that the creature would lay onto him — but it never came.

There was a cracking sound, one of the loudest so far. Changmin peeked an eye open to see the boy from 421 standing over the creature — or rather, the bloody mess of limbs that used to be the creature.

The other boy tilted his head back, closing hi eyes in relief. "Hah..."

Changmin was speechless, and for more than one reason.

Firstly, he was just now processing that he'd had a close encounter with death.

Second, that the creature that had its jaws only inches from his neck was lying on the floor, presumably (and hopefully) dead.

And thirdly, Mr. 421 was kind of hot. In the just-slaughtered-Slenderman-but-now-there's-blood-everywhere-and-oh-no-its-in-my-hair-now-i-have-to-comb-it-out-casually type of way.

"Hey," the other boy spoke up, looking at Changmin and startling him out of his thoughts. "You alright?"

"Y-yeah." Changmin nodded. "Thank you."

The other boy nudged the former creature with his bat, then decided he was satisfied with his work. "You're welcome." Then, he looked up at Changmin. "What's your name?"

"Ji Changmin," he replied, holding out a hand.

The boy from room 421 shook his hand. "Lee Juyeon," he said. "Nice to meet you."
