the two agents step out of the plane, taking in the warm dusk sky in front of them. crew members hand luggage to the couple, before they walked towards the black suv a few yards ahead. her stomach had a constant dropping sensation, the nerves of completing this mission making her body have a physical reaction. he, on the other hand, felt as calm as ever. he had confidence radiating off of him. she could sense the self assurance on him. it was the only thing keeping her feet from glueing themselves to the runway of the private airport. their feet stepped into the suv, before they directed their driver to the location they would be staying at. it was a quick drive, but it was painfully silent. aaliyah didn't have the courage to speak yet, making mitch not wanting to force her into conversation. before long, they arrived to the safe house, that was disguised to look like any other rental home in the city. the two of them walked in, immediately noticing the cozy features of the safe house.
it was similar to a log cabin, wood being apart of every piece of furniture and even included in the flooring and the walls around them. there were multiple windows that looked out to the forest surrounding the home, making the location feel secluded. aaliyah's lips pulled into a gentle smile, the comfort of the home making her anxiety lessen. mitch's hand slipped into her's, causing her to turn her attention away from the details of the house. she looked up at him, and for the first time today mitch saw her at a relaxed level. he quietly scoffed, before he tucked a piece of hair behind her ear. "feeling better about this now?"
she furrowed her brows, trying to act as if she wasn't just previously in a haze of anxiety. "i didn't have a bad feeling about this in the first place."
he shook his head. "i know you better than that."
he then reached down and grabbed their bags of luggage. "you wanna go take a look at the bedroom?"
she smiled gently before she nodded her head. she walked with mitch around the house before they found a narrow staircase that led them to their loft bedroom. there were no walls to the bedroom, only a railing that the agents could look down over to see the living room and kitchen below them. mitch set the bags down in front of a dresser as aaliyah seated herself on the bed. she felt the soft fabric of the comforter, knowing how peaceful tonight's sleep would be. "this is really starting to feel like a vacation instead of a mission."
mitch chuckled quietly, walking over to aaliyah and sitting next to her. "i bet it'll start feeling more like a mission tomorrow."
she shrugged, a small smirk on her lips as she looked at his. "guess we'll have to take advantage of today then."
he leaned in, catching on to her hint. his lips locked with hers softly, the kiss being sweet yet tender. mitch then pulled back, looking into her eyes. he narrowed his eyes slightly. "still have to go into the city today." he then leaned in, and whispered. "but tonight, i'm all yours."
rapp suddenly stood to his feet, wiping his hands on his jeans before he walked towards the stairs and began to make his way downstairs. aaliyah remained on the bed, shaking her head as she smiled. she then slowly stood up, and looked over the railing to see what her boyfriend was doing. she saw mitch, at the kitchen table, pulling a laptop from his backpack and setting it front of him. he leaned down, getting a better look of what he was seeing on his screen. this intrigued her. "whatcha looking at?"
"kuzmina's location. kennedy just sent it over."
aaliyah leaned against the railing. "where is she?"
"the moscow metro."
aaliyah furrowed her brows. "she's leaving the city?"
"no, says she's been there for the past two hours."
