At the hospital, they'd told us she'd passed out from shock, not internal bleeding. Her wrist was indeed broken and they'd put it in a cast.

When we were finally allowed into the room, she was conscious, lying fully clothed in the hospital bed, arm in a bright blue cast. She smiled upon seeing me.

I headed straight for her, took her face in my hands when I was close enough, and locked my lips with her. She placed her unbroken hand on my cheek while she kissed back.

When my siblings suddenly crooned behind me, Indy pulled away to look. She didn't seem bothered, just surprised. I realized it was time to make formal introductions, even if they already knew who the others were.

I mean... like... introduce her as my girlfriend, I guess? I don't know what I mean.

"Indy," I moved out of her line of sight, "these are my siblings, Judas and Micah." I gestured o each as I said their names. "Guys," I gestured now to my girlfriend, "this is Indy, my girlfriend."

The trio mutually said hi to each other. I turned back towards Indy. "I am so sorry." She looked at me, confused. "Why?" "Because...if I hadn't kissed you in the school parking lot, none of this would've happened."

Indy now looked bewildered. "Call, you're not serious."

Do I look like I'm joking? I wanted to shoot back (heavy on the sarcasm), but instead, I remained silent, simply staring at her.

She sighed, leaned forward, and planted a soft kiss upon my lips. "I'm not going to apologize for being with you," she stated, "I don't regret it for a second. We haven't even gone on a first real date and already you got me hooked. You are not the problem, Call, nor are you even a part of the problem. They're the ones who beat me up. They're the ones full of hate. We shouldn't have to rearrange our lives to accommodate their prejudiced thinking. There is nothing wrong with us. It's them. So, please stop blaming yourself. Okay?"

Speechless, I could only nod. Indy smiled a little.

"You're so adorable," she claimed before pulling my face to hers. Again.

I disagreed about being adorable, but I sure wasn't gonna argue the point right now.

Just as we began to ease apart, her parents walked in, both intensively worried and angry.

"Indigo!" Her mother exclaimed, sounding horrified. Then she looked at me accusingly. Her father was already staring at me.

"Mo-" Indy stated only to be interrupted.

"You," her mother snapped at me. "Explain yourself." "Who the hell are you?" Her father demanded before I could start.

Had he already forgotten we'd already met?? In the damn bowling alley? Yesterday??

"Now, wait for a goddamn-"  Judas started. I stopped him. "It's fine, Judas. Mr. and Mrs. Marzena, my name is Call Tierney. This is Judas and Micah, my siblings. We are the ones that took your daughter to the hospital after she was beaten up by her friends."

"Mom, Dad," Indy spoke up, "this is my girlfriend." My stomach twisted with excitement, and I knew it could be seen on my face because Indy looked at me and an instantaneous smile brightened up her face.

Then she winked at me and I swear, my legs were just about to give up. It would've been a wonderful moment, but her parents had other ideas; her dad grabbed me by the arm and dragged me in such a manner that I was actually forced to walk backwards to the open door.
