Chapter Twenty-three - Everything gets fucked up eventually

Peter's P.O.V

Peter sat at his desk in the Stark Industries' Tower, his chin resting on his open palm as he stared out of the wall of windows that made up the fourth side of his office and across the expanse of the cities that were New York and Queens. He sighed, tears pricking his eyes as he thought about the events of the last week. How everything had gone wrong so quickly. A tear fell from his eye and slipped down his face, though Peter made no effort to wipe it away as he let himself get lost in his thoughts. It had been a week since he had fought with Y/N, and he'd been staying at his aunt's ever since. He was beyond sorry for everything that he'd said, and he knew what the right decision was regarding the baby, the issue was that Y/N hadn't reached out yet and he didn't want to push her by reaching out too soon. He was very much in between a rock and a hard place, and he didn't know how to get out of that position. He swallowed thickly, his stomach twisting in anxiety of the idea of this leading to the couple breaking up. Peter had already lost MJ those years ago, so even if he wouldn't lose Y/N in such a permanent capacity, her ending it would still break him. But unfortunately, all he could do right now was give Y/N her space, without making it look like he'd abandoned her. It hadn't been an easy week.

"Kid." Peter quickly sniffed and wiped his eyes before turning his body back to the door and giving Tony a forced smile as he walked into Peter's office.

"Mr Stark, hi." He chuckled falsely.

"How's your fake job to cover up your real job as a superhero going?" He teased as he sat on the edge of Peter's desk, making the boy chuckle again and nod as he rubbed his hand over his chin.

"It's going." He nodded. Tony sighed and looked at him.

"Look, kid, I wasn't going to say anything since I figured that it would pass, but it hasn't yet. It's been a week and you've come into work distracted and upset every day. Has something happened?" He asked. Peter gulped and looked down, tears pricking his eyes. He knew that being distracted was bound to catch up with him eventually.

"Yeah, um, something did happen, actually, Mr Stark. I got my girlfriend pregnant." He admitted. Tony's eyes widened slightly.

"Was it an accident or intentional?" He scoffed.

"Let's just say that it wasn't planned." he sighed and shook his head. Tony scoffed again and nodded as he sat up more on the edge of the table.

"Wow, Pete, I've got to hand it to you. I was quite the playboy in my time but the one thing that I never did was get someone pregnant accidentally. Is it wrong to admit that I'm actually kind of proud of you?" he chuckled.

"I don't know what to do, Mr Stark. I was over the moon to find out that Y/N was pregnant, but she wasn't. She wants to abort it, and of course it's her body, so she gets the final say, but we had a massive fight because of it. I've been staying at May's for a week." He admitted.

"Holy shit, kid, that's worse than I was expecting. I hate to admit it, but I think that Y/N has a point. I mean, you guys are young, you're fucked up, not to mention that you haven't figured out yet who's behind everything that's going on. It's not safe for Y/N to be pregnant whilst she's in danger." Tony shook his head. Peter sighed and squeezed his eyes shut as he pinched the bridge of his nose.

"I know that too. Deep down, I know that it's not a good idea, and that she's making the right decision. But...I don't know. It made me start to think about our future together, which made me so fucking happy. But then it made me sad at the thought that after this fight, we might not have a future together at all." He mumbled and shook his head as a tear fell from his eyes. Tony sighed and gave him a small smile.
