🖤 Ray POV:

I woke up from a nightmare, but I didn't scream. But I got up and went to the library, which is where I go to feel safe. I grabbed a book and started reading til' I fell asleep. I woke up again not long later. I looked at the clock '5 am...' I got up and walked outside. It was cold. Especially in the morning. I took a deep breath in and out. I walked around a bit. I looked back up at the building, I see Don's head sticking out of the window, and Phil peaking around the corner.

I pretended not to see Don though. I face Phil and putting my arms out, letting him run and hug me. "Please..." "Please what?" I say in confusion. "Please, don't keep starving yourself" "Phil..." "I don't wanna see you hurt yourself, I want you to eat..!" I stop hugging him and put my hands on his shoulders looking at his teary eyes. "I'll eat, for you guys, yeah?" "You'll eat always!" "Shhhh, fine" I hug him again for a bit before he falls asleep in my arms. I smile. A genuine smile.

I pick Phil up and carry him inside back to bed. "Come out of hibernation, eh?" I turn around and see Don. "Shhhh, wake them up, I kill you!" I whisper yell at him. We walk down to the dinning area, sit and chat for a bit. "So...". "I saw you were spying on me" "dang, caught me" "let me guess, Phil woke up, came to you, you heard me and saw me outside and told him to say all that to me?" "How the-" I laugh at him and smile. I couldn't tell if it was genuine or take.

"If you could have one wish in the entire world what would it be?" "Hmm, maybe, to get adopted like everyone else's wish is" "hehe-"  we talked for a while longer before getting ready for the day. While I was cooking breakfast the kids were running around and playing with the older ones. The phone started ringing and everyone went silent, gathering around. 'I wonder who that is?' (you'll find out if you fucking answer it dumb ass ray) I answer the phone and begin talking.

"Hello is this Grace Field Adoption Centre?"

"Uhh, yes how may I help you?"

"I have heard your caretaker has recently passed away, we have another one on the way and should arrive around noon"

"may I ask, female or male?"

"Female"

"and does this woman have experience?"

"Yes, but she doesn't know how things run over there, so if you could, put the eldest child there on the phone, that'd be great"

"Uhh- I am the oldest, Ray, I have recently turned 15"

"oh sorry, well is it alright if you show her how things run around the Orphanage for about, a week?"

"Yes yes, of course"

"alright she'll be there by noon"

"alright"

"have a nice day"

"you too"

They hang up. "Well, who and what was that?" I look up at Don, "don't know" " then why did you ask if they had experience, and if they are female male or male!?"  "Oh, we're getting a new caretaker by noon today. I'll show them around for about a week before they start doing anything properly around here" everyone jumped up and down in excitement while I stay with a straight face.

After that I get breakfast served for everyone and say the prayers. I begin eating I haven't tasted stuff like this for a bit. When everyone finished we cleaned up. Don doing the dishes. Anna doing the laundry. And J was doing everything else. Phil helped getting equipment, until I assigned him to keep a look out for a car at the gate. If he sees one, immediately some and get me.

12:13 pm

I was sweeping in the library. Phil ran in, a bit winded. "There's a car at the gate!" "Thank you Phil!" I fake smile at him, making it look real. I put the broom away and speed walk down to the gate. I open it letting them in. They drive up toward the Orphanage, and the car left. I shut the gate behind it and walk up to the new caretaker.
