**A short author's note I recommend you to read:There has been a major jump in time, well, not major, but big enough. It has namely been about a month since the previous chapter. That was it, you may now read the ninth chapter of this fanfiction.**
I descended the stairs slowly, one step at a time as I did my very best not to let the holdall drag me down the stairs. Not that it was extremely heavy; it was just heavy enough to get me out of balance, and thus drag me down the stairs
"Do you need help with that?" I heard my father, Garret, ask and looked up to see him leaning against the kitchen counter with a half-eaten apple in hand.
"No, thank you." I replied, before once again returning my focus to the stair steps as I walked down the last few. As soon as I had reached the first floor safely, I set the holdall down on the floor next to the wall and walked into the kitchen.
"I didn't think you were leaving until two." He stated, though it sounded more like a question.
"I'm not..." I answered him and threw a quick glance at the wall clock. It was a quarter past one, so I assumed that was the reason why he asked. He was well-known with my better-early-than-late motto, but I guess I was a bit more than early this time. "...though Niall said they might come a bit early."
"How much earlier are we talking about?" My father asked. His question was followed by the sound of a door closing. The cause of the sound was most likely my father; the other one. There weren't really anyone else it could be; we were the only residents in the house after all.
It was just the three of us, my fathers and me, and I barely even lived there anymore. Even now, during summer, I had to live in Manchester, because of my job. The same applied for Daniel. Kira was luckier, her family lived there.
But the summer had just started, and I didn't have work the next few days; and that for a quite specific reason.
"I don't know... five minutes?" I answered him, just waiting for the chuckle that soon followed. I just smiled at him sheepishly as my father, Scott, joined us in the kitchen and the attention was drawn away from me. Something I didn't mind at all. I zoned out when they started talking about the sunroom they were currently building.
Just like the house was changing by getting another room, other things had changed and were changing as well. The past month had gone by quickly, and quite a few things had changed. First of all, I no longer had any exams coming up. Not anytime soon, anyway. I had got through all of them, somehow, and getting back the results was all that remained.
My relationship with Niall had also changed, though I hadn't actually seen him. We had got to know each other better over texts whilst he was on tour and I had exam preparations, as well as exams. Work had also been a part of the last month, but not a lot, the boss had taken my exams into consideration and given me a smaller portion of shifts than usual.
Because of that, I was almost scared to ask him if I could get some days off for this trip. Niall had namely asked me to join him and some friends for a camping trip. I had been very hesitant to give him an answer, because I wouldn't know anyone apart from him. I had met Eleanor and Louis as well, but that was it. At the other hand, I didn't want to turn down the offer either.
Niall had several times assured me that everyone was nice people and that I didn't have to worry about that. I still worried though. Worrying about the trip was inevitable, no matter what anybody said.
My parents also warned me about the different kind of people you could meet, and that I should be wary when it came to strangers. People I didn't know. The worst kind of people weren't exactly the kind of people to go camping though, and my dads told me I'd only have to give them a call if there was anything, or if I wanted to come home.
