That night you four were up late discussing the setup for ICarly. At 10 PM your mom called worried, saying you had to come home. Sam stayed at Carly's for the night and Freddie left simultaneous with you. When you got home your mom and Ted were still waiting. Your mom was angry and she scolded you for not letting them know where you were all day. You apologized and told them what Miss Briggs had said. Ted was furious to hear that one of his staff acted like that against his students. "What you did wasn't right Y/N. But I don't think it's fair to be an automatic failure for this semester. I'll talk with your English teacher in the morning." He said and you greatly appreciated it. Before you could go up the stairs Ted called for you again. "I'm glad you told me Y/N. If there is ever anything I can help you with just talk to me okay. Me being your principal doesn't change that." He said with a caring tone. "I will. Thank you. You know there is one thing. Me and my friends need some special film equipment for our web show. Do you think we could borrow some from the AV club?" you asked. "Well, I don't know. If the other club members are okay with it, I guess it's fine. But if you break anything it'll be paid from your allowance. It's still school property non the less." Ted said stern but fair. You nodded and headed up the stairs toward your room. Chris already had his walk for the night and he was snoring loudly in his little dog bed. You crawled in bed and instantly fell asleep, only now noticing how tired you were.
The next day you and your friends went over to Carly's again. When you told them that your stepdad would talk to Miss Briggs everyone was overjoyed, knowing they probably wouldn't fail this semester. At school you and Freddie collected the equipment you needed and loaded it into bags. You strapped the bags to your bikes. Everyone helped carrying it to Carly's apartment so it didn't take much effort. When you got there you and Freddie went upstairs to plan everything out while Carly and Sam worked on the script downstairs. Many hours went by before you had a decent camera and light setup in the room. Freddie was already busy to make the monitor in Carly's room work with a moving arm and you were investing your time into a remote that could control certain parts of the set. You were working out the cabling and the frequencies when you heard a bang. "Ah, shoot! The monitor isn't compatible with this cable. I'll go and get some new ones from the store, you need anything?" Freddie asked. "No, still working on that remote idea. If you could get me a shell fit for a remote and buttons that be great." you said. "Alright I'll go take a look. Back in a few." Freddie said and he used the elevator to get down. You were still tinkering with the remote and its features. You had already figured out the applause and the boo command. You thought it be fun additions to the jokes and it'd be like the show had a live audience. The only tricky part was the random dancing idea. You had to press one button and all the lights in the studio would change into colourful, flashing disco lights and a loud, catchy dance song would play. You heard the elevator come up again and you checked your watch. "Freddie is mighty fast." You thought and looked at the doors opening. But it wasn't Freddie it was Sam who came out.
"Hi, new kid." she said and she looked around at all the work you had already done. "And I thought the conference hall at the school was bad. You two really outdid yourselves this time." Sam said looking at all the wiring, lights and the monitor. "Yeah, we've been working pretty hard. How's the script coming along?" you asked. "Pretty good, we're almost done. The first show is about random talents so the weird kids will do most of the work." She joked and you laughed. "That's true." You said and Sam looked at the remote prototype. "What are you working on?" she asked intrigued. "Oh, it's a remote I'm making for you." you said. "For me? What does it do?" Sam asked. "Well, you being the co-host of ICarly I thought it be great if you had a remote that can control certain parts of the set." You explained. "Like?" Sam asked. "Well, let me show you." You said and you handed her the remote. "Try one of the buttons." you said. Sam pressed the first button and a loud applause rang through the studio. "Nice Y/N. This is pretty cool." She said overjoyed and you appreciated it. She pressed the second button and a boo rang out. The third button was to control the monitor arm back and forward. The last button she pressed was for the random dancing skit. Only some of the lights in the studio turned blue or red while a soothing voice yelled "Random dancing!!" without any music. "That last one needs some work." you said embarrassed. "This is great Y/N." Sam said and she handed you back the remote. "Yeah, I thought so!" you said happily. "Thanks for what you said yesterday by the way." Sam said not looking at you. "About what?" you asked. "About my name not being in ICarly, I don't mind but it was nice of you." She said and she looked at you getting a bit red. "No problem, Sam. I only thought it'd be fair. That's why I'm making you this remote. I mean Carly is already kind of the centrepiece with the name thing, you need something cool too." You said and Sam smiled at you warmly. She never smiled at you like that and you wondered what was going on. But you couldn't ask though, the elevator doors opened again with Freddie coming out with a bunch of new cables. "Hi guys what are you doing?" Freddie asked looking at you two. "Nothing really, I showed Sam the remote." you said. Freddie nodded and handed you the casing and extra buttons he had picked up for you. "I'll better get going. Me and Carly have a lot to do for tomorrow. See you later nerds." Sam said and she used the elevator to go down.
