"Yesterday, we had a bit of a standoff with Squad 5. I'm sure you've all realized, but something's up with those guys," Captain Obi started.

"Yeah, no kidding. If Hibana's in charge, there's bound to be problems." You found yourself mumbling, but with Hinawa's super-hearing, he leveled you with a harsh glare that shut you up instantly.

"Though it may give rise to open conflict, we're going to investigate 'em."

"I don't even think you can even call that weightlifting anymore," Shinra whispered in your ear, and you couldn't help but nod in agreement. Up until now, the captain had been balancing weights with anything and everything he could find around the office, all while balancing on a yoga ball. It was indeed a hot mess.

"Hinawa!" Captain Obi called, and the lieutenant nods.

"Our primary responsibilities are putting flame people to rest and protecting the general public. However, we must always keep in mind our secondary covert purpose: investigating suspicious fire brigade squads ad devising ways to stand against them!" Lieutenant Hinawa continued to drone on, but you couldn't help your drifting eyes from landing upon his hat every so often. 'A Pair of Tweezers Live in My Wall' was what it read, and it took every fiber in your body from just bursting out then and there. The lieutenant probably didn't know what it said either- poor thing.

"Curse you, Gryphon!" Arthur swore next to you, looking directly at a small finch perched on the Weatherhead outside. "How dare you come yet again to assault my castle! I shall whet my blade on your bones." Another of his delusions, I guess.

"You are a special one, aren't you?" Shinra asked, and Maki only sighed.

"Seriously though, please don't kill the cute little Gryphon. That's a violation of the Avian Beast Protection Act. They'll arrest you."

Arthur hmph'ed in response, seemingly buying Maki's reasoning.

"Come to think of it, you're pretty special yourself, Maki..." As childish as it is, you audibly gagged and made sure Shinra heard and saw it. Where the hell did that come from?? The said girl sweats at this and stares at the boy. "Uhh..."

"But Maki," Another voice chimes in, a lot softer than the previous one. "For 90% of the day, is a wonderfully calm beauty. It's such a shame she's like this for the remaining 10%!"

"A shame...?" Maki sweatdrops as Iris smiles.

"Squad 8's full of weirdos. It's so nice to have you around, Sister. You're my savior." The sister smiles bashfully and walks up to the sharp-toothed male.

You clicked your tongue. "Speak for yourself, Shinra."

"Oh, by the way, Shinra, you've got something in your hair." She leans over and plucks something out of his hair, causing an awkward grin and a raging blush to grow on his face. "Th... Thanks!"

"Face... your face..." Maki whispers.

"You've got to be the weirdest one of us all." You commented, and Arthur nodded in agreement. Before anyone could say anything more, the click of the lieutenant's signature gun makes itself known. He raises his gun and points it at Shinra.

"Oi, specials. We're in the middle of a crucial meeting here. Quit shooting the shit." Says the one with a gun pointed at us. The lieutenant then points the gun at you, almost as if he heard your inner backtalk. You hold your hands up in surrender, and he then points the gun at Shinra once more. You let out a breath of relief, but the same couldn't be said for the boy next to you.

"L-Lieutenant! Even if it's a joke, pointing your gun at us is in deplorable taste!"

"Do I look like I'm joking?" Lieutenant Hinawa quips back, shutting the black-haired boy right up.
