The first three weeks of Neymar being in Paris, playing football in Paris, training in Paris, weren't as bad as I thought they would be. Sure, he was everywhere. I ran into him when his practices ended and mine started, I ran into him at the offices of PSG, at the gym, at the doctor's office. We had to attend the same events, most of which were centered around his historic transfer, we knew the same people, we were guests at the same parties. And when he wasn't there, a giant poster, a TV screen or a billboard would still remind me, that this was his city now, already maybe even more than it was mine.

We mostly stirred clear of each other, as much as we could. I tried my best. Few people here knew of our relationship and they never mentioned it. Of course, it was difficult for them, mostly David and Thiago, to be friends with two people that were not really comfortable around each other, and to split their time accordingly. For example, David had asked me if he could invite Neymar to our place and me, not wanting to say no to him, had conveniently scheduled a visit to a friend's house for the weekend, only for Neymar to decline the proposal altogether. Soon it was obvious he never planned to step foot in David's house as long as I lived there with him.

Of course, Neymar was dating Bruna again and thanks to Instagram I knew all about their relationship. It was my fault for looking, but I just couldn't look away. It was almost masochistic, because I knew the moment I saw a new picture of their relationship I would feel worse, but I did it anyway.

And me... There was Xavi and we'd been dating for a few months now. But I think I had involuntarily pulled back a little since Neymar transferred to PSG and he had noticed. Things had cooled down a little between us ever since.

I had managed to avoid Neymar, for three weeks now. But it seemed, that was about to end. It felt like waking up from a fever dream.
