"Seattle is in a state of terror. Police are baffled by the escalating murders and disappearances. Theories range from a vicious new gang to a wildly active serial killer." The news reporter's voice echoed through the Cullen house. It sent chills down Evelyn's spine as she listened to Carlisle.

"It's getting worse. We're going to have to do something." Carlisle spoke, turning the television off. Evelyn got closer to Edward, wanting him as close to her as possible.

"It takes more than one of our kind to cause the damage they're reporting. Quite a few more. And they're undisciplined, conspicuous." Jasper sent a knowing look to Edward, and Edward didn't have to read his mind to know what he was getting at.

"It's newborns." Edward concluded, exchanging worried glances with Carlisle. Evelyn didn't understand.

"Newborns? Like new vampires?" Evelyn asked, looking to Edward for answers.

"In the first few months after the change-" Edward starts to explain, but is cut off by Jasper. Evelyn could sense he had far more experience with newborns than any other Cullen. So, Evelyn made sure to listen and listen well she did.

"That's when we're at our most uncontrollable, vicious, insane with thirst." Jasper explained, giving Evelyn a look of seriousness. These vampires were not to be messed with.

"That must mean they aren't trained, but this can't be random, right? Someone's got to be pulling the strings?" Evelyn asked, looking around for anyone to answer. Evelyn thought of spells she could use against whoever this was. She could handle herself against vampires, she had proven that already.

"Someone is creating an army. If the Volturi won't step in, we'll have to. Though, I'm surprised they let it go on this long." Carlisle spoke, thinking about everything they had learned about the army of newborns thus far.

"Maybe they're behind it," Evelyn said, catching everyone's attention, "the Volturi."

For the past few months, Evelyn had been receiving several owls a week from members of the Order, letting her know what was going on. Though they had to write in a sort of code as letters were being intercepted by the Ministry, they did keep in contact.

Remus and Tonks had gotten married, and Bill and Fleur were engaged to be wed. Evelyn smiled, happy to hear that some things were going well.

But, that happiness didn't last long, as she learned that Mad-Eye Moody had been killed in the transporting of Harry Potter to the Burrow. Evelyn was shocked, she wondered who else was going to be lost in this war.

"Did you get more letters?" Edward asked, peering over her shoulder to see what she was doing. He had seen a letter that had asked if Evelyn would be willing to fight, if it came to that point. Evelyn had said yes, even though Edward didn't approve. He didn't want to lose her.

"Edward, if they need me, I have to go to them. I can't let them die." She spoke, holding the letters in her hand as she watched her owl, Ivy, eat breakfast. Edward understood deep down, but he wouldn't let anything happen to her. She was far too important to him and he didn't know what he would do without her.

It was graduation day. Edward and Evelyn sat next to each other, hand in hand, as they listened to Jessica Stanley give her valedictorian speech at graduation.

"When we were five, they asked us what we wanted to be when we grew up. Our answers were things like astronaut, president, or in my case a princess. When we were ten, they asked again. We answered rock star, cowboy, or in my case a gold medalist. But now that we've grown up, they want a serious answer. Well, how about this? 'Who the hell knows?'" Jessica spoke into the microphone, smiling as she did so.

"This isn't the time to make hard and fast decisions, this is the time to make mistakes. Take the wrong train and get stuck somewhere. Fall in love a lot. Major in philosophy because there's no way to make a career out of that. Change your mind, and change it again, because nothing's permanent. So make as many mistakes as you can. That way, someday, when they ask us what we want to be, we won't have to guess. We'll know." As Jessica finished her speech, the crowd erupted into cheers. Jessica looked proud, and happily walked back to her seat as they began to call out names.

"Edward Cullen." The principal called his name and handed him his diploma. Evelyn wondered what number he was on, but smiled and cheered for him anyway.

After several more names, it was finally time.

"Evelyn Scamander." Evelyn walked across the stage and grabbed her diploma, smiling at her father who sat just a few feet away in the audience.

Her father shouted loudly, "That's my girl!"

Alice's party looked amazing. She had hung lights everywhere and had good music playing throughout the house. Everything looked great, as did everything Alice did.

As Evelyn walked through the house, saying hi to random school friends as she saw them. Eventually, she ran into Jessica and Angela.

"Hey! What did you think of my speech? Too easy-breezy? Too self-helpful? Did you hate it?" Jessica asked, obviously looking for a bit of encouragement. Evelyn smiled at her friend.

"No! I think you hit the nail on the head with it. Couldn't have done it better myself." Evelyn smiled, making Jessica relax. All she needed was a bit of reassurance, and Evelyn gave that to her.

"I love this song! Let's go." Angela pulled Jessica away, and Evelyn laughed. She watched as the two began dancing manically. She was just glad they were happy.

Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Alice stumble a bit down the stairs. Evelyn knew immediately that she was having a vision. Evelyn ran over to her, asking her what she saw. The look on Alice's face was pure fear. If Alice was scared, they all had better be.

"The decision's been made. They're coming here." Alice spoke, pulling all of the Cullens into a private room.

"They'll be here in four days." Alice spoke, informing every member of the clan. Evelyn was anxious, not paying attention to the details. She zoned most of it out, fearing that all of this was bound to come to an end. And a bloody one at that.

"We need the wolves on our side." Evelyn spoke, knowing what needed to be done. And she knew exactly the person that could help her.
