A Unexpected Meeting[ON HIATUS]

Chapter 12

Alexander's POV:

I rubbed my forehead tiredly and looked at the big pile of papers on my desk. I sighed, picked up my pen and resumed my work.

I heard a sharp knock on the door of my office. I hummed and the door opened to reveal my betas, Elvyn and Ario.

Each of them had a armful of paper. They deposited them on my desk. I looked gratefully at them. They both had their own lives, on top of everything their wife,Louis was pregnant. Yet both of them were here helping me out.

I said,

" You guys are lifesavers. Really."

They smiled tiredly at me.

Then I heard the soft click click of heels. Three of us groaned altogether. Heels meant  only one thing. Claire.

Elyvn looked at me and said softly,

" Can I gut her today?"

I shook my head and joked,

" As much as I would have loved to say yes, my parents love her. They would be really disappointed if you gut her. And....who would clean the mess that it would create?"

Elyvn scowled at me and muttered darkly.

The door clicked open. As usual. You would think that atleast she had the decency to knock but no, she always has to barge it like a uninvited visitor. Which she is.

I suppressed the urge to barf. She was wearing a thigh length sparkly off shoulder red dress with matching pencil heels. Neither less to say, she looked awful.

She walked over to me and kissed my cheek. She sat down beside me and rubbed her chest against my hand.

I looked at Ario and Elyvn. Elyvn was glaring at her and muttering darkly under his breath. The corners of Ario's lip twitched when he saw my predicament.

I turned towards her, my right eye twitching.

She smiled at me and batted her face eyelashes and said,

" Hi my darling fiancè~"

Yes.

This drakon was my fiancee.

And she is not my mate.

Claire is my parents' close friend's only daughter. Since I had not yet found my mate, my parents thought that it would be lovely if I married her.

I wish I could tell them how much I hated their decision.

Worst part? If I did not find my mate before I turned 27, I would have to marry her.

I don't really blame my parents. They had my good intentions in their hearts when they made this decision. The pack was getting frustrated without a luna and everyone was asking when the alpha heir is going to be born.

My parents LOVE Claire. In their eyes she is some kind of a pure angel, meant to be protected. If it was not for Ario,Elvyn and Louis, I would have never know what kind of a drakon she is.

But as she has my parents' support, I cannot even cancel the engagement or act rude. UGH.

I hope I find my mate soon. I have spent so many years looking yet I didn't find him/her.

My parents and I have a agreement, if I find my mate before the age of 27, the engagement will be cancelled. Thankfully they agreed to my proposal.

My mind wandered to the memories of that night. I had vague memories of the person I had slept with. I still remember the soft smell of eucalyptus and chocolate. It was a very weird combination but it smelt so good on the person. I remember threading my hands through his soft black locks. I remember the beautiful feel of his soft skin.

He was perfect.

I wish I could find him again. I had a really bad hangover and a cough when I woke up next morning so all I could remember was putting my clothes on and going out of the hotel.

My wolf, Julian has been strangely quiet since that incident. He hardly answered me. When he did, he sounded....sad. I wonder what happened that night besides me having a one night stand with that beautiful stranger.

Other things aside, I should deal with the probelm that has arised now instead of thinking of the past.

I looked down at Claire and made a brave attempt at a smile.

She said in her horrible whiny voice,

" Alex~ Why don't we spend the night together?"

She batted her fake eyelashes like someone had thrown a fistful of sand on her face.

I looked at Elvyn for help,but he was busy glaring at her.

He said,

" I don't think he can Miss Alligator. We have a family dinner at his house."

I glared at him. Why did he have to tell her that? Now she is gonna forcefully come with us.

Claire scowled at Elvyn and then turned and looked at me and said,

" That's wonderful then! I will come with you all!! It's been days since I have seen my in laws! I am so excited!"

Elvyn smirked,leaned forward and said,

" Oh dear, you are pretty dense aren't you? I said it was a 'family' dinner. And last time I remember you aren't 'family'. You are just some randomn werewolf trying to seduce Alex."

I pretended as if I was searching for a very important paper.

Claire's face turned red. She got up and said,

" As if you are 'family' Elvyn!"

Elvyn just smirked and calmly said,

" Oh yeah darling. I am. Alex and his family have always thought of my family as their own. I can't say that much for you tho~"

Claire turned indignantly towards me. I pretended to not notice her gaze.

She snatched her bag and walked out of the door muttering curses.
