It's been 8 months since Bucky confessed his love to you, and asked you to be his girlfriend. 8 months since you went on your first, although not your last, mission. 8 months since that dreadful time when Chase kidnapped you, and tortured you, in an attempt to find out where Bucky's trigger word journal was.
You'll be glad to know that the journal has since been taken out of the concrete wall where it was kept, and burnt to a crisp, using one of Tony's suits. A decision none of you had a problem with, especially Bucky.
Since then, the team asked you to join them in most, if not all of their missions from that point forward. They were really impressed with how you had managed to keep yourself alive during that time, and also managed to escape Chase by yourself, by picking the lock on your restraints with a knife. Something Sam never fails to take credit for teaching you every time it happens to come up.
You were nervous to join the team, but Nat and Wanda have been super helpful in training you up to their level, and encouraging you the whole time. Although you haven't been alone in being a new recruit. Tony also wanted Peter Parker on the team, so you've bonded with him quite well about that.
You don't go on all of the missions, sometimes you'll stay back at the compound, or in the quinjet on lookout with Nick Fury. After all, you're not technically a trained assassin, a Super Soldier, or a Norse God.
But you had to admit you did love being involved. Steve and Tony were a little worried at the start about how Bucky would focus on the missions if he knew you could potentially be a distraction, or even worse, be in danger, but it's only made him more motivated to perform well and to prove himself to the others, but most importantly, you.
Other than being the newest member of the team, your relationship with Bucky is getting more serious, and he never forgets to remind you how special you are to him and how much he loves you. You've never been with someone like him and vice versa. It was new for both of you, so at the start you made sure to take it slow, especially around Tony. Although he supported your relationship with Bucky, it didn't mean he wanted to see his little sister making out with a fellow Avenger all over the compound (which you all now lived at).
He's still adjusting to a normal, trusting relationship since he's been himself again, so you two still haven't made that final physical, intimate step in your relationship by going all the way, although you've done everything in between. You've been suuuper patient with him, and he knows how bad you want to jump his bones (like, who wouldn't), but he's been waiting for you to like him back for forever, so you can wait a little longer with him. Not much longer you hope!
So, 8 months on from one of the most traumatic things you've ever experienced, your life is going better than you expected. You have a loving relationship with an amazing man, a supportive brother, great friends, and an awesome new job.
You hoped things would stay so perfect...
