"You got a haircut and didn't tell me?" Calum gasped as he walked up to Emmy's locker. The two would always meet every day before first period at her locker. Then the two of them would meet their other friends in an old art room until first period started. It's been a tradition for years.

"I figured I'd surprise you." She shrugged and smiled at his reaction. She knew she would surprise him by getting a new haircut and not telling him, mostly because she asked his opinion on everything. She wasn't always impulsive like he was, so she liked to ask his opinion to make sure she wasn't making the wrong decision or not.

"Well I'm definitely surprised. Damn, I love it. Short hair suits you, but so does long hair. You could shave your head and I'd love it." He rambled causing her to playfully roll her eyes and shake her head. Her hair wasn't even that short. For her it was considering she's always had long hair, so just above the shoulders was short. But she wanted to do something new. She was tired of having long hair and just wanted to chop it all off.

"Thank you for being my personal hype man." She chuckled and closed her locker.

He slung his arm around her shoulders pulling her close and kissing her temple, smiling at the short girl next to him "Of course! That's what I'm here for."

"How am I going to braid your hair though? I finally have mastered it and you've chopped all your hair off." He complained and ran his fingers through her soft black hair.

"You'll still be able to do some stuff don't worry. I almost died it blue, Michael tried to convince me to but I backed out last minute." His eyes widened in surprise at this statement. She's only ever dyed her hair once before, and that was because Michael wanted to dye his hair red but didn't want to do it alone. It was his first time ever dying his hair and Emmy being the good friend she is, agreed to do it with him so he wouldn't feel alone.

Obviously Michael has dyed his hair hundreds of times by now. And when she dyed her hair red with Michael she didn't keep it for that long. She thought the color didn't suit her, but loved the way it looked on him so she dyed her hair back to her natural black color, and hasn't dyed it since.

"Blue? Who are you and what have you done with my girlfriend?" He quickly removed his arm from her, acting as though it wasn't the love of his life standing next to him. She let out a soft giggle and pulled his arm back over her shoulders.

"Michael was starting to make me feel impulsive. He convinced me that blue would look better than red so I was thinking about it but got too scared." She explained and shrugged her shoulders.

"Do it, blue would look hot. But you'd have to do like a dark blue like what Michael did a few years ago. Dark blue would go perfectly with your skin tone."

"You sound like some professional or something, which is ironic because the most you've ever done is the blonde in your hair." She raked her fingers in his light hair. It was a bit shorter since he had just cut it as well, and because of the blonde that was previously in his hair, his hair looked like a lighter shade of brown. She loved his new hair because he always looked so nice and cleaned up no matter what he was wearing.

"That woman taught me a lot okay." He defended, causing her to laugh.

Calum opened the art room door for her and let her walk in. The room was empty, other than the spare art supplies that they sometimes used when they were bored. The two sat close to each other at one of the tables. Calum rested his head on her shoulder and told her about the weird dream he had the night before.

The dream consisted of Luke shaving his head, and he chased everyone around with a buzz cutter trying to convince them too as well. So now he was afraid Luke would walk in with a shaved head and buzz cutters, because the dream hasn't yet been confirmed as real or not.

"Luke's not going to come in with a shaved head, he loves his hair." Emmy confirmed with a laugh and ran her fingers through Calum's hair.

"You loved your hair but you cut it all off. People change Em." She rolled her eyes at the serious tone in his voice. He always had weird dreams and then convinced himself it was real.

"I needed a bit of a change. I've been the same boring Emmy since birth."

"You're not boring, you're beautiful. Everyone loved your long hair. Just because we're all impulsive doesn't make you boring and us exciting." He reassured and softly kissed her lips. "Plus if you were really that boring I wouldn't be with you for five years."

"That's a long time huh?" She chuckled as he pulled her onto his lap.

"Really long time. I don't know how I do it." He sighed and looked up at the ceiling while she gasped and slapped his chest.

"If anything I deserve an award." She stated while he looked back at her with a smile and a shrug.

"I'm the award babe." He said and placed a hard kiss on her lips.

"Why are you always making out when we walk in?" Michael groaned as him and Luke walked in the room.

"You just have bad timing." Calum shrugged and tightened his grip on Emmy's waist.

"Did you cut your hair?" Luke questioned with wide eyes and sat across from the couple.

"Yeah, you like?" She asked and raked her fingers through her hair.

"Yeah it looks good. I never expected to see you with short hair." He said truthfully.

"You said you were going to dye it blue." Michael whined.

"Sorry I chickened out. Cutting it was too much for me at the time, maybe I will soon."

"You think too much. Don't think, just do." Michael said and pointed a finger at her.

"I don't want to go through another red hair situation okay. I don't want to waste my money if it's going to look like shit."

"It won't I promise, I dye my hair all the time I know these things."

"The red didn't even look bad." Calum interrupted and looked up at her.

"It looked atrocious. Stop trying to compliment me so you can get something out of it and tell me the truth." She flicked the boy's forehead, causing the other two boys to laugh and him to scrunch his face up.

"What makes you think that I compliment you to get something out of it?" He asked and knitted his eyebrows together.

"Because I know you." She wrapped her arms around her boy's shoulders and planted a kiss on his head while they talked about band stuff. When Nora and Sammie came in they gawked at the new haircut their best friend had. Then after some time the bell for first period rang, causing the group of teens to head out of the room.

Calum walked his girl to her first period like he always did. Before he had to leave he pecked her cheek and smiled at her. "I'll see you at lunch, love you." The couple smiled at each other before Calum leaned down and placed a quick but loving kiss on the girl's lips.

Emmy smiled up at him, something she felt like she was always doing, and fixed his hair in the process. "Love you too." She turned around and headed into her classroom, not knowing that the boy she loved always watched her in awe whenever she didn't know he was looking. His favorite time to look at her was when she didn't know he was watching her. To him, that's when she looked the most beautiful.
