While waiting for Lucy's letter, Erza decided it was time for her to take her first job. First thing in the morning she walked inside the guild hall with purpose. She greeted both Gray and Cana before making her way to the request board. There were several flyers pinned on it with different jobs. After looking at them for a bit, one of them caught her eye.

Boars On My Lawn!

Requirements: None

Location: Acacia Village

Type of Mission: Capture

Description: Hello, I am a simple farmer trying to take care of her family. For the past six months boars have come inside our village and started feeding on our crops and chickens. They also attacked a number of children and we're worried someone might die soon. We tried driving them away multiple times but they just keep coming back. I humbly ask you to capture these boars and relocate them somewhere else.

Requestor: Ileana Minsk

Reward: 100,000 jewels

That seemed like a good enough job and it was exactly 100,000 jewels too. Erza unpinned the flyer from the board and went to tell the master she was going on her first job. Master Makarov was more than glad to allow her to go and swiftly signed the paperwork. After this she left for Fairy Hills where she packed a travel bag before leaving for the train station. She took the train to Clover Town before continuing on foot. She reached Acacia Village around 2pm and then went to find her client. She asked the villagers for directions and then made her way to a modest house at the end of the village. The house was small with a wooden roof and narrow windows. It had a small stone path that was bordered by field roses. Surrounding the house was a wooden fence and Erza could see a few chickens in the back. On the doorstep was a sleeping calico cat that was missing an ear. When she neared the door it raised her head, look at the mage with disdain before going away.

Erza knocked three times before a small girl with short blonde hair opened the door. Erza barely had time to introduce herself before the young girl dragged her in the house. Inside there was a brown haired woman cooking in the kitchen while holding a baby in one hand. Once she noticed Erza she quickly excused herself before putting the baby in a crib.

"So sorry about the mess, we don't usually get visitors. I am Ileana Minsk, I'm guessing you are the mage that came to help us?" said Ileana.

"That is correct, I am Erza Scarlet, a Fairy Tail mage. I came to help with the boar problem." said Erza.

Ileana seemed a bit reluctant to give her the job, since she was so young. But in the end she relented and told Erza about the boars. "Those boars have come out of nowhere around six months ago. They have devastated crops, killed countless animals and attacked villagers. And unfortunately, last night someone had been killed. Our priest died while trying to defend his family. They need to be stopped. Though...I would feel bad to just kill them off, so I would appreciate if you can relocate them away. They come at night, somewhere around 10pm, in large groups. They are vicious and will eat anything."

"Poor Miza lost her ear because of them!" said the young girl as she held the cat from earlier and presented it to Erza.

"I understand. I will do my best find these boars and move them away." said Erza.

"Thank you, young lady. And good luck." said Ileana.

Before coming here Erza bought some steel rope from the magic shop in Magnolia. So when 10 pm hit she was standing at the entrance of the village, armed with the rope and a wooden cart donated by one of the villagers. They came in a large group, just as Ileana said and charged towards Erza when they saw her. She quickly formed a lasso and tied it around one of the boars. However Erza did not expect the strength of the wild animal so it ended up dragging her through the mud. Erza quickly planted her feet in the ground and tried dragging the boar towards the cart.

When that failed she jumped into the air and landed on the boar's back. The mage put her arms around the boar and started wrestling it. The two of them rolled around in the mud before the boar managed to shake her off. But Erza was no quitter so she summoned a bat and jumped back on the boar. Using the rope as reins, she rode the boar like it was a bull at a rodeo. The wild animal tried to shake the mage in vain before she managed to hit on the head. The boar fell unconscious and she loaded it in the cart. One down, 39 more to go.

Erza spent the rest of the night wrestling boars and knocking them unconscious with her bat. She had one close call when one boar managed to get inside a chicken coop, but she got it away before it managed to cause any harm. After defeating all of the boars and loading them into the cart, Erza went to Ileana's house to announce her victory and sleep until the morning. She was planning to take the boars over the mountain, where they'll be far enough away that they can never bother the villagers again.

Somewhere around 4am she gets woken up by a loud roar. Erza immediately runs outside. She sees a lot of villagers run towards the edge of the forest. There she sees a large beast that resembles a boar. It had shaggy brown fur, a huge mouth with huge sharp teeth, 4 giant tusks and red eyes. The villagers around her were panicking and Erza knew she couldn't let that thing reach the village. So she quickly requiped in the only armor she currently owned. The chestplate she had from the Tower of Heaven. She was planning to buy a new one from the magic shop with the money from missions damn it. Unfortunately, whether she was ready or not did not matter. She told the villagers to run away before she took out a weapon.

The chestplate offered her a little bit of protection and armed with a sword she charged at the beast. She knew that simply stabbing it would not work so she also summoned some of the other weapons she got from the tower. She tried throwing axes at his left eye but the beast simply blew them away with a roar. The only way she could beat it was if she blinded it, so she took some of the leftover rope and tied it around one the tusks. Erza started climbing the rope, but the beast saw her and started shaking its head.

No matter how much Erza was swung around, she would not let go of the rope. She needed to protect the villagers. When the beast gave one particular strong swing, she used the momentum and swung herself on top of its head. From there she climbed the fur like a tarantula and when she reached the eye, she stabbed it with all her might. The beast roared in pain as blood started flowing from his eye. Then she climbed to the other eye and stabbed it as well.

The beast roared in pain before trying to shake the mage off once more. Erza took out her sword and stabbed it in the forehead. She used the, now stuck, sword to hold onto the beast. When it was done shaking, she summoned all of her weapons and hit in the new weak spot she created. She managed to make a decent sized wound before she was shaken off. Erza crashed into the village center before getting up. She watched as the blind beast sniffed the air before finding her location. She needed to find a way to cut off its sense of smell as well.

She saw Ileana and a few villagers behind her and asked if they had anything she could burn. Erza hoped that a the smoke would be able to hide her scent. The villagers nodded and brought as much wood as they could find. They filled the village center in order to create a huge campfire. When the beast reached the village center, the fire was creating so much smoke that you could barely breathe. It smelled around but could not find Erza. So she used all of the rope she had left to trip it into the fire. The beast crashed into the fires and Erza wasted no time in into driving the remainder of her weapons into its forehead.

And with that, it was finally over. The beast was dead and the fire was put out when it crashed into it. The villagers cheered as the threat was finally gone. She helped the villagers cut up the beast before leaving with the boar cart and her reward. She was asked to remain for a feast but she declined, she needed to get back to Fairy Tail. Besides, a letter might be waiting for her and she could not wait to tell Lucy about her first job.
