Chapter 02 "No Ordinary Person"
Tokyo, Japan, May 2014
The girl is no ordinary person, Koro-sensei realized.
The way the look in her eyes didn't change when she sliced his tentacle, the way she moves without an ounce of hesitance...
It all reminded him of someone of his past.
"I look forward to killing you," the girl says, her eyes never wavering from her attention on Koro-sensei.
Her voice takes him back to reality, as he hesitantly breaks eye contact with the girl to glance at his sliced-off tentacle on the floor. "Yes... I look forward to you trying to kill me."
Though his words are full of arrogance, his tone says otherwise. He puts on his signature arrogant face as a mask for his shock, grinning as he lets go of the girl's hand.
The bell then rang, signaling the beginning of class. Karasuma and Irina stood up, walking out of the room.
"Let's get to class, shall we?" Koro-sensei says, gesturing to the girl to follow him.
She nods, following him out of the teacher's lounge room as she wipes off the anti-sensei knife with a handkerchief from her pocket.
Koro-sensei entered the classroom first along with Karasuma and Irina. Y/N was told to stand outside the classroom first before she is let in. After she heard Karasuma calling her in, she entered the classroom, scanning the students' faces of recognition and shock.
"I'm sure all of you recognize her to be the girl who crashed through the wall the other day," Koro-sensei said to the class, turning to the girl. "Now, please introduce yourself."
"Y/N."
Simple and straightforward; that was her introduction.
The class stared at her silently, waiting for the girl to say more. Their curiosity will not be satisfied with a mere statement of her name.
"...Is there anything that you'd like to add, Y/N-san?" Koro-sensei turns to her, his gaze urging her to say more.
In truth, he was just as curious as his students, because a colleague of his decided to not elaborate further than 'necessary' about the new student.
"Right..." The girl mutters. "I'm currently under the identity of Karasuma-sensei's adopted daughter, so please play along with that. Also, I'll be his assistant during your time of physical training."
The class was silent, before a male student with light russet-colored hair in the front row asked, "Our training assistant...?"
The girl nods. "Yes. I'll be helping you work on your assassination skills. I understand if you have doubts in my credibility, but I'm—I was a soldier. So I believe that my experience will help you."
The class lets out hums as they grasp the new information that was given to them, shifting their minds from their questions of the girl.
"You can sit on the empty desk over there." Koro-sensei gestures towards the empty desk on the back of the class beside a red-haired student. Y/N nods and makes her way to the empty desk, feeling the class' gaze on her.
Class then began with a subject called "social studies." During the entire class, the girl does not understand a single, utter thing. Atomic bombs, Hiroshima, Nagasaki, World War II, United States-she doesn't know anything about them. The only thing she understands is that it's about some war with big, big bombs that massacred civilians.
One crucial thing that hindered her during class is her inability to read and write in Japanese. For some reason, she can speak Japanese since it is identical to the language back at the Walls, yet she can't read and write in the language. It didn't make sense.
