Hello Fam :)
@Dweeb_Dork This chapter is all about you. The first part is because you have perfectly guessed the reason and the second for your amazing question that got even me thinking about it. Just let me know if it's up to the mark or not probably on Instagram. :P :)
Warning: Some more chaotic Manik. And Nandini. :P
Happy Reading...
Nandini had decided to take up the offer. It took her a lot of time to convince herself but then Harshad sent her a few frantic emails about her return and she thought it was time to leave the company. How many years would she keep on going there when she wasn't happy?
Hence, on a Monday morning, she found herself in front of the company to hand over her resignation. She had called the Chairman to meet him in person and he told her he would come to the office. Before that, she wanted to talk to Harshad.
But she got the first blow when entering Harshad's cabin, she was invited by a smiling boss. It looked as if his facial muscles were paining to put that smile there. "Nandini, hi", he said.
"Morning, Harshad."
"Come in, why don't you take a seat?"
"Of course, of course", muttered Nandini, taking a seat. Nope, not weird at all.
"How's everything at home?", he asked.
"Fine", she told. If he was passing the time with small talk, she would have to step up. Taking a deep breath, she forwarded her letter.
"What is this?", he asked.
As he read the letter, the smile dropped from his face, and the familiarity relaxed her. She could handle this.
"What the hell, Nandini? You can't just go home and come back with a resignation letter", said Harshad.
"I can. Harshad, when I joined the company, I told your dad that I would leave whenever I get an opportunity to start my own business. I got it now and that's what I am doing."
"You? Starting a company? Within the span of a week?", he asked. "Are you kidding me?"
"We have heard about ideas popping up in dreams, Harshad. Starting a company within a week shouldn't be that absurd."
"Nandini, listen. Stop bluffing, okay. Is it about me? Did you get a better offer? Better pay?", he asked.
"Not everything is about pay. I am resigning. And I don't care if you accept it or not. I am talking to your dad when he comes."
"I don't know what I would do without you", he told.
"Well, I am not your babysitter. You have to learn it someday. Better today than later."
He glared at her before rubbing his face. "I love you."
What the freaking hell?
"I love you and I have been in love with you for a while now. I didn't know how to tell you. I can't function when you leave the office. I miss your presence and I don't know what to do about it. So, I send you work even during vacations. I plan outings for you. So that I could spend some time with you outside work. I was jealous of your friend when he came to pick you up because I wanted to drop you home. I don't know how else to tell you that I love you."
"Maybe by using words instead of your brain", she taunted. When Harshad looked at her, with a kicked puppy face, which didn't lessen his usual constipated face, she softened. "Harshad, you don't know anything about me. I am practically a stranger to you and you can't love a stranger."
