Hello Fam :)
I promised an Epilogue and I totally forgot about it until I reread the whole story. I finished this sometime back but then it felt incomplete so, I added the little conversation at the end.
Happy Reading...
Nandini was stuck at the Murthy house. It has been a year since Manik returned from Delhi and started work at his hospital. It was opened six months back, Raj letting other works take hold and speeding up the hospital. Manik went from Prince to the angel descended from heaven within a week and Nandini was smug because she had realized it much sooner. The people of Amritpuri now knew Nandini as their future Queen while Manik continued to be his angel self. So far so good. Everything was smooth. Until two days back when Raj raised the topic of them getting engaged officially at least. And all hell broke loose because suddenly, Abhimanyu was the mother hen to both of them, Yash was fretting over both of his kids, Alya was fussing about the dresses and the decorations, Mukti was excited because her brother and the girl she started loving as a sister were getting engaged. Raj had taken a backseat enjoying the whole drama so much that when Nandini went to the castle the previous day, she glared at the King and refused to call him Uncle. She addressed him as 'your majesty' or 'sir' to rile him up but it didn't budge him. Nandini's ego was slightly hurt until Manik barged into the room and dragged her out, saying they would plan revenge together and that he had a lot of practice. Her sweet chaotic idiot. Right now, though, Alya was getting her makeup done.
Somehow, they had become enemies to being cordial to the twins that they rightfully were. One day, when Yash was at the court working on a case, both of them half-drunk, Nandini confessed to missing her all these years and Alya pulled her into a hug and said sorry. It was the most heartfelt conversation they had ever had and suddenly the forced awkwardness evaporated in thin air. When the house was really silent on Yash's return, he joked if they had murdered each other and got the shock of his life when they were laughing together while making breakfast for him.
"Alya, you are the Barbie doll. Don't make me look like a Barbie doll. Remember, Manik hates them?"
Alya rolled her eyes. "Shut up. You are getting engaged and not attending your next board meeting. Dress accordingly. And I really don't care about your Prince Charming. If it was up to you two, you both would attend the party in your pajamas."
Nandini glared at her. Pajamas are comfortable. Yash came back looking dashing as ever. Nandini whistled at him. "Not bad, dad. Girls will swoon at the party."
Yash cuffed her head lightly, earning a protest from Alya as she set the hair properly. "It's your engagement. Don't talk as if we are going to find a date for me."
"We can multitask, dad."
Before his dad could retort, there was a call on his mobile and he frowned looking at the caller id. "Why is Manik calling me now?"
"Impatient much?", teased Alya.
Yash laughed at the face Nandini made and Alya asked him to put the call on speaker. "Hello, Manik."
"Uncle, when are you guys coming here?", he asked. "Abhimanyu is driving me crazy and he is convincing Mukti to join him too. Dad's no help. Come soon so I can escape, please."
There was a slight rustling sound before Manik yelled at Abhimanyu to shut up and then the line was dead. Yash burst out laughing. "Why did I think your engagement would be a peaceful affair?"
Nandini rolled her eyes before grabbing her mobile. She ignored Alya when the girl teased her about calling her fiancé. "Abhimanyu, get the hell away from Manik, or else I would kill you right in front of all the guests and kidnap Manik away from you. You wouldn't get a decent doctor to save you."
