Our hero, Cadie, got his very first Pokemon from Professor Birch as a reward for saving him from a Wild Pokemon. Then, he helped May with her Pokemon research and won his very first Trainer battle! May told Prof Birch about it and Prof gave Cadie a Pokedex! Cadie started to catch Pokemon and is preparing for his first Gym Battle.
"Wow, you're very good. Especially for a young trainer." The Aroma lady said after losing to Cadie.
"Thanks ma'am. I can't believe that I just started my journey and people are starting to see my greatness!" Like her name, the Aroma lady smelled nice. It was like a human flower shop.
Cadie battled more trainers, he even battled the twins on a 2-2 battle. He almost lost but Mudkip was amazing. After the battle against the twins, Mudkip evolved to a Marshtomp. After seeing Mudkip evolve, Cadie gained confidence. So, Cadie ran to the Rustboro Gym.
He battled the trainers and defeated them, before he knew it, he was standing in front of the Gym Leader, Roxanne.
"So, you're the challenger? Ha! Are you sure you want to battle? I don't want to make a kid cry." Roxanne said taunting Cadie.
"Hey! I'm not a kid!" Cadie not pleased with what Roxanne said.
"Okay then! If you're certain you want to see the power of Rock Pokemon, let's battle!"
The lights of the gym was brighter than the first time Cadie came. They were standing at the opposite ends of what looks like a basketball court lining.
Roxanne sent out Geodude, Cadie sent out Tailow.
"Really? A Tailow? Against my Geodude? Please, quit already." Roxanne said.
Instead of switching Pokemon, Cadie was confident. He had a half-smile on his face.
It was silent, so Roxanne went for the first attack. "Geodude, Rollout!" So Geodude obeyed, Geodude moved backward, and then ran forward to throw some rocks.
"Tailow, you know what to do." Tailow nodded. Tailow flew towards Geodude dodging the attack. Tailow then let out a huge wind attack. Sending Geodude backwards.
"Ugh. Geodude, Rock Smash!" Geodude grinned.
A huge rock was flying towards Tailow. "Tailow! Dodge!" Cadie was shouting, but Tailow couldn't hear him.
Tailow was hit by the big rock Geodude threw at him. Tailow fainted.
"Tailow is unable to battle, Geodude wins!" The referee was raising the flag that was pointing towards Roxanne indicating that Geodude won the round.
"Darn it. Tailow, return!" Cadie was disappointed. Not at Tailow, but at himself. He knew better. He remembered what his Dad told him when Cadie helped Wally get a Pokemon, "Son, we will battle soon. Not now, but when you are stronger.". Those words, he wanted to battle his dad. That gave him the adrenaline rush.
Cadie was holding the Pokeball Marshtomp was in. He decided to battle Geodude with Marshtomp. "Marshtomp! I choose you!"
"Marshtomp huh? Good choice. Water against rock. Marshtomp seems to have the advantage. But let's see." Roxanne said.
"Geodude, Double-Edge!!"
"Marshtomp, Take Down!" The two trainers said at the same time.
Geodude and Marshtomp ran to each other. Both of their attacks landed. Marshtomp lost about 20% of his health while Geodude lost almost half.
"Aargh! Geodude, tackle!" Geodude once again ran towards Marshtomp.
"Marshtomp, Water Gun Geodude when he is near." Cadie whispered to Marshtomp. Marshtomp nodded.
Cadie waited, Geodude was near. "Marshtomp NOW!!!" Cadie shouted loud enough for the guard outside to hear.
Marshtomp spewed liters of water to Geodude. When Marshtomp stopped, Geodude was lying on the ground.
"Geodude is unable to battle, Marshtomp wins!" This time, the referee raised the flag pointed at Cadie.
"Geodude, return. That was good. Let's see if Marshtomp can handle my next Pokemon. Onix go!"
And there was Onix. A 30-foot tall Rock Pokemon. He was big, but Cadie was sure he can beat that.
"Okay, Marshtomp. We can do this." Even though he couldn't understand Marshtomp language, Cadie believed in Marshtomp. It was the only way to communicate, to believe.
"Onix! Rock Tomb!" Roxanne ordered.
Onix was so fast, Cadie didn't have time to say something.
The attack landed. Marshtomp's health went all down until it was color red and beeping. Cadie was frustrated. He had to something. He remembered what his father told him, "Be strong. Don't quit."
"Marshtomp, are you okay?" He had a plan, but first he had to make sure Marshtomp is okay.
Marshtomp nodded. "Okay, let's do this. Marshtomp, get up close to Onix and iron tail it!"
Marshtomp was on top of Onix. "Onix, bide!"
The attack failed. Marshtomp jumped. Marshtomp's tail glowed white. He hit Onix. Onix's health went down the same level as his.
"Onix, let's finish this. ROCK TOMB!!!"
"Marshtomp, WATER PULSE!!!" Once again, they both commanded their Pokemon at the same time.
Marshtomp and Onix looked for power. Then, Marshtomp sent out huge water rings to Onix. Onix sent huge rocks to Marshtomp. Water to Onix, Rock to Marshtomp. Everything was white, kinda like a grenade exploded, when it was clear, Marshtomp and Onix were still standing. They were struggling to stay standing. Finally, one of the Pokemon collapsed and fainted.

----------

"Onix is unable to battle, Marshtomp wins!" The referee shouted.
Cadie was in awe. He spread his arms, Marshtomp ram to him and they both hugged.
"Thank you buddy, you were awesome back there. I can't believe we got ourselves a badge." Cadie was teary-eyed but he didn't look like he was going to cry. He noticed that Roxanne was walking towards him. He wiped his eyes and stood up.
"So, you won." Roxanne was smiling but she was faking it.
"Yeah, I can't believe it." Cadie was also smiling but his smile was true.
"Here's the Boulderbadge." Roxanne handed Cadie the badge. "That proves your win in Rustboro Gym." She was smiling. It wasn't fake this time, Cadie could tell.
The badge was looking at Cadie, Cadie was looking at the badge. "Wow, thanks."
"You know, I rarely say this but, you're going to be a great trainer. You should train more. Strive." Roxanne's word of advice.
"Thanks. I will never forget this day." Cadie held the badge up high. "I GOT THE BOULDERBADGE!!! WOOH!!!"
Roxanne and Cadie was outside the gym . Sun almost setting. The trainers registered each other in their Pokenavs.
Roxanne waved goodbye. Cadie waved back. Cadie rode his bike and continued his journey to be the greatest.
