Zadie begins to wake from the darkness she had fallen asleep in. She opens her eyes, slowly looking around the room she now lays in. The only light source radiates off the closed blinds to her left. Zadie steadily sits up, regretting it immediately; her head is spinning. Zadie puts a hand to her head, trying to balance herself.

A couple minutes pass, and her balance becomes normal.

There's a strange tugging at her right wrist. She gazes down; some sort of tube is attached to her. The line leads to some sort of metal stick with wheels that carries an empty bag of blood.

Having read many books over the years, she concludes that an IV has been placed on her wrist.

"What's taking him so long? It's been over an hour." A female voice demands. No one else resides in the room with Zadie, meaning she must be somewhere else close by.

"Maybe he ran into trouble, mom. You know how dangerous it is out there." Cody's voice replies.

"Yes, I know, I just don't want to be alone with a hungry vampire when she wakes up. I don't care if she is part human. A vampire is a vampire when it comes to a thirst for blood."

Zadie's heart sinks. Yes, she has heard many unpleasant things about her ever since she arrived at the Slayer Organization. But, still doesn't mean it hurts any less whenever another person says it.

Zadie shakes the sadness away, putting on a front. "Hello? Is anyone here?" She calls.

"Crap, she's awake," Cody says, sounding uneasy all of a sudden.

Mia appears at the doorway a few seconds later. "How are you feeling?" She asks, not daring to take a step closer. "I feel fine. What's going on?" Zadie asks, disoriented.

Mia explains to Zadie that she had lost blood and how they came to the clinic to give her a blood transfusion.

"Thank you for all your help. I'm Zadie, by the way." Zadie gives her a warm smile. Mia introduces herself, walking over cautiously to remove the IV.

"Where's Blade?" Zadie rubs the bandage on her wrist where the IV once was.

Mia disposes of the empty blood bag, "He went to a house a couple of blocks away to contact the Slayer Organization. He should be back anytime." Mia looks at the window with a worried expression on her face.

Zadie's stomach rumbles. "I'm kinda hungry."

Mia snaps her head to Zadie with a horrified look on her face, quickly backing away.

Zadie puts her hands up, "No, not for blood for human food."

Mia's face relaxes some. "Oh well, I can help you with that in just a minute." Mia speeds down the hall.

Zadie puts her hands down, watching the gray tile floor. Zadie admits to herself she does feel thirsty for blood but won't say anything to anyone for she would frighten them. She hopes she can hold out long enough till help arrives.

Mia returns with a couple of granola bars in hand. "Thank you." Zadie takes them with gratitude. Mia simply nods then scurries out of the room, not wanting to be in the same room with her any longer.

Zadie opens one, nibbling on it.

"Blade, can you hear me?" Zadie reaches out to him with her mind.

"I hear you. How are you feeling?" Blade replies.

"I'm doing okay. Where are you?" Zadie takes another bite.

"There were some Rabbids following me, but I lost them. I was able to contact headquarters. They said they sent some help out hours ago. It shouldn't be too much longer before they arrive."
