okay some more story context!! this is after a mission you'd gone on with zenitsu, tanjiro, and inosuke where you'd got badly hurt this is set at the butterfly mansion enjoy!!

Zenitsu's POV

i can't believe it.. i watched as Aoi took care of y/n that i realized i was helpless. i couldn't protect them. i'm not strong enough. i looked at the injuries i had endured then looked at y/n. they were so strong, they protected me. even after getting injured they protected me.

i felt lower then dirt. i couldn't even protect the person i love, i'm no good. i started to walk out of the infirmary ( again sorry i don't know what to call it:( ) and tanjiro grabbed my shoulder. " zenitsu is everything okay? you've been really quiet since we got back. " i moved his hand and went to sit in the garden.

i looked at the sky and took time to reflect on my life.  i thought about my training, and what i could've done to learn more. if i'd learnt more maybe i could've protected- " zenitsu? " i turned around to see y/n standing behind me. " y/n you should be resting!!- " " relax i'm alright. " they smiled and came to sit next to me.

" what's wrong? " i paused. was it really that easy to tell? " i couldn't protect you.. " their expression shifted to one of sorrow. " zenitsu you did all you could- " " BUT I COULD'VE DONE MORE!! " they jumped at my sudden out burst and i buried my head in my arms. " i should've done more. " i kept my head buried till i felt warmth, ( why does it sound like that- ) i looked up and y/n was hugging me.

" i'm sorry for worrying you, or making you feel bad. " i felt tears well up in my eyes and i hugged them back. i cried for a while, they kept hugging me and didn't speak again till i was ready. " i'm sorry. " " for what? " " for being weak. " they took my face in their hands and made me look at them. " zenitsu there's nothing wrong with being weak. " what did they mean?

" but i couldn't- " " zenitsu agatsuma. i know you feel bad for not protecting me, but you did what you could. i'll tell you what, how would you feel if i tried to train you? " i felt my face heat up and my thoughts became fuzzy. " w-what? why would you train me..? "
they smiled " because i want to! and if you're so worried about being weak then i'll help you become stronger. " they stood up and offered me their hand " starting tomorrow i'm gonna train you.

" i took their hand and wiped my face " thank you. " they smiled " but don't think i'm gonna go easy on you! " i laughed " i wouldn't have it any other way "

alrighty zenitsu simps i hope this was okay!! sorry it was so short compared to my other chapters just didn't have anything else to add to it^^; i have an angsty inosuke chapter i wanna post if y'all want it tho!!
