Chapter XXVIII

We're headed for the car when my brother suddenly breaks into a sprint. I watch him with surprise as he speeds away. What in the world is he running for?

The answer becomes clear as Karl pulls out the car key and opens the car and Sapnap climbs into the passenger's seat without hesitation, screaming: "I get to control the aux!" My mouth falls open with disbelief. Not that his music taste is bad, it's just mine is better. And I'm sick and tired of listening to his songs in the car from just earlier today. Once is enough.

We decided earlier on getting some takeout. According to Karl, there's a sushi a couple of blocks away (I looked it up as well because I don't trust his memory and it's legit). We also decided we'd eat out tonight. At a restaurant. Me and two adults, who act like absolute children. I already regret agreeing to this.

But when Karl asked me, begged, really, I couldn't say no. So here I am. On my way to a china restaurant with two absolute adorable dumbasses. Well, one less adorable, take a guess.

We roll up to the restaurant, and Karl parks fairly close to the entrance. It's a cute building, decorated with loads of fairy lights and Chinese lanterns. Together with the starry night sky, it looks like something straight from one of my Pinterest boards. Even the guys fit in, my brother in a decent outfit for once.

I tilt my head towards the sky and take a deep breath. The chilly air tickles my throat but in a good way. I smile at nothing but the half-moon and the stars that accompany it.

"Hey, Y/n, we're going inside now!" Karl's call snaps me out of my peacefulness. I am brought back to earth and the small restaurant. Sometimes, our planet isn't all that bad.

I smile at him. "I'll be right there" I replied softly. He gives me a wondering look but just nods and turns around to enter the restaurant through the front door.

I exhale and give the dark night sky one last look before nodding to myself and walking over to the restaurant. I'm so hungry I could eat a whole pig right now.

I was not hungry enough to eat a whole pig, let alone my own food. The last two pieces of avocado sushi stare back at me from my plate and I groan, throwing my head back against the hard, wooden sofa. It's soft against my ass though, thanks to the cushion and the massive amount of pillows.

"Come on, just eat them" Sapnap makes it sound so damn easy when it's really not. I give him a deadly eyeshot, warning him not to criticize me, or my eating skills for that matter, any further.

"If you won't eat them, I will" Karl announces, and without waiting for an answer, he reaches over the table and grabs one of the avocados with his chopsticks.

My eyes widen with surprise as I stare down at the now lonely piece of avocado left on my platter. Then the news settles in and I just blink slowly as I look back up at the man sitting in front of me.

"Sure, I don't mind, obviously" I'm still slightly stunned, my eyes just won't go back to normal quite yet, but I still attempt a smile.

It seems to work as he grins back, chewing on my food. Well, his food now. He swallows and reaches for the second one.

"You were really hungry, huh?" My brother asks, but it sounds more like a statement than a question. His eyes have been stuck on my platter for a while, but now he looks up at Karl with raised eyebrows.
