Epilogue

The doctor walked in a pained expression plastered on his face.

Apart from a few bruises Nate was fortunately unharmed but Lia wasn't as lucky, Nia shot her in the back according to the doctor the bullets punctured her Kidney and grazed her liver.

"I'm going to be honest with you, she might not make it." He paused waiting for them to register what he said "I got the bullet out and I had to take out her punctured Kidney but there is still a lot of bleeding internally and  due to the damage that her body already has if I try to perform another surgery she will die during the surgery her body cannot handle the pressure." He said looking at the family of sad faces, tear stained cheeks and overflowing eyes.

"UHM Th-thank you doctor." Mason told the doctor as Mauricio walked towards Lia's room

"Lia this time there is really nothing I can do." Mauricio sobbed while sitting next to Lia's unusually pale and limp form

"I'm sorry Lia, I love you." He said dipping his head as tears fell from his face blurring his vision

"Da-dad I'm sorry." She gave him a weak smile "I love you." She said a bit louder

"Lia." Mason said walking in. In that moment he looked like he did the first time Alice showed up to their house except this time he was wearing the ring she gave him years prior, this warmed her heart and made her smile

"I'll leave you two alone." Mauricio said leaving the room non of them responded as they simply stared at each other saying everything that mere words couldn't express.

"I guess, it-it's time I leave. And you still have the ring?" Lia said in a joking manner "you'll get through this Lia, I know you will." Mason said in a low voice mimicking her expression

"Not this time Mason, I cheated death once but Its not happening this time ." She said with tears in her eyes "Let's face it can never work with us existing at the same time let alone together." She said saddened by the events of their time together

"The way I see it you and I are inevitably meant to be. My Mom tried to break us up, death tried to break us up hell even we tried to break our own relationship but here we are parents to an amazing boy and divorced but still smitten with each other." Mason said with a lighthearted smile

"I am going to die, Mason."

He was about to reply when Damien walked in to the room

"Oh I'm sorry, I'll come back." He said fidgeting with the door knob "Damien wait." Lia said catching him before he slipped out the door "Its not your fault, you came to help me." She said and he simply nodded before closing the door behind him

"Lia nothing will happen to you." He said in a frustrated voice reaching for her hand "My stomach hurts." She said in discomfort "Lemme call the doctor." He said letting go of her hand

"Don't, if you call him you'll have to leave and the moment you leave this room, that will be the last time you ever see me alive. I would rather die next to the person I love than with people being paid to be around me." She said as she squeezed her abdomen

"But Lia-"

"Just stay Mas, Infact why dont you come join me the bed is big enough." She said with a smile still holding her abdomen

In defeat he climbed into her bed and they just sat there with her complaining here and there about her abdomen.

It got to a point where she could barely talk. A nurse came in at one point and she put on this genuine smile that completely shocked Mason
