"Audrey, Wake up! We have to go check on the house down at Figure Eight."

I rolled over to the left side of my bed and let out a soft groan as the morning sunshine pierced through my eyelids.

I slowly opened them as I heard my mother's footsteps getting closer to my bedroom door.

I sat up and rubbed my eyes as mom walks in.
Her heels clicking on my marble floor gave me a headache already.

I looked up at her as she folded her arms and stared back down at me.

"Security said there was some sort of break-in at the house this morning. We need to go check it out."

She was dressed differently today, almost nicer. She was wearing a tan knitted turtle neck that was two sizes too big with a pair of white skinny jeans that were ironed so much you could head the fabric when she moved. And to top it all off she added a pair of brown heels and red lipstick.

I nodded my head "Alright I'll be ready in an hour." She pulled the covers off of me, "No. Not an hour. 20 minutes." She walked off and left my room.

I sighed and forced myself to get ready for the day.

When we got to the house the security team automatically apologized to my mother. This is my first time seeing my new home so I decided to explore a little.

I walked through the house which seemed way too big for just me and my mom to live in. My room was two times bigger than my current one and there were about 4 bathrooms.

It was a 5 bedroom house. Mom liked to do art so I already knew we were going to have an 'art room', but two extra bedrooms are just too much for me.

The house was still in the fixing-up progress but it was mostly finished.

The garage needed some work, along with some of the bathrooms and the deck. The house was filled with a bunch of junk the construction workers left.

I walked out to the deck to find a blue ribbon beer can spilled on the ground.

My mom came inside to find me. "Well good news, just a bunch of kids fooling around I guess, nothing was broken or stolen. Our towel warmers are still intact."

I rolled my eyes. "Seriously? Towel warmers?" She ignored me looked at the beer can on the ground. "I hope that stain will come out. Maybe we can put carpet over it."

I walked off towards the yard. ADT security was still here, one of the guards walked up to me. "We got video of the kids if you wanted to press charges for trespassing," he asked me.

My mom would press charges. She likes control and power but as she said, nothing was broken or stolen. No harm no foul.

I shook my head. "No, it's alright. There was no damage. I'm sure they were just hanging out."

The Security looked at me for a second, almost as if he wanted me to press charges.
"I could show you the video?" he said.

I looked down at his name badge, I noticed what looked like to be beer stains on his uniform.

I looked back into his eyes. "We're all good Gary," I said with a small smile. He huffed and walked away to his patrol vehicle.

My mom walked back outside next to me. "We're moving in today." I darted my eyes to her. "Wait I thought you said 2 more weeks?"
She shook her head. "I changed my mind. All of our things are packed already. We just need to move the furniture in."
