Trigger Warning: Drug/ Alcohol abuse/ Family abuse

Also, this is a very long chapter so brace yourself.

It was silent.

Only the sound of nature filled the air. I don't think I ever really woke up to the trees rustling, or the birds tweeting.

I rolled over in my bed. Did I just hear...snoring? I opened my eyes–fuck. This was not my bed! This looked like the Château?

'Oh my God...am I still at the Château??' I thought to myself.

I sat up and looked around the room. I walked out the door and Kiara was asleep on the pullout couch, Pope was sleeping on the couch that was outside on the porch, and John B was outside on the hammock.

'My phone? Where is my phone?'

I walked back into the room and looked for my phone. I hopped back onto the bed to check beside it. Maybe it fell? When I peeked over the bed...right there on the floor JJ laid. Snoring loud as ever.

He had a pillow under his head and a small blanket covering him.

It was kind of cute actually. For almost dying last night he sleeps like a baby.

Right at his feet was my phone. I got off the bed and picked it up. I tiptoed out of the room and closed the door as softly as I could to not wake him.

I went out the back door and started to walk home. Mom was probably freaking out.

I checked my phone and she definitely was. 15 missed calls, 24 text messages...

After a while of walking, I caught a bus ride all the way to figure eight.

When I arrived at the front porch of my house I was hesitant to walk in but I did, one footstep at a time. I slowly and carefully unlocked the front door with my key and quietly walked in.

I was scared mom would hear me but she was nowhere to be found. I checked everywhere besides my bedroom. So I went upstairs and she wasn't there either.

I sat on the bed and decided to call her. At first, it went to voicemail but the second time she picked up.

"Mom? Where are you? I'm at the house."

"Of course you are. I'm guessing you just now got in?"

With a little shame in my voice, I said yes.
"But I promise I was safe." She scoffed.

"Don't ever do that again. Call first. Please."

"Of course I will. I meant too, it's just it was a crazy night and I fell asleep."

It was silent for a second.

"Was there a boy involved?"

I froze up. "Well yes, but I promise not in that way! I'll tell you about it when you get home later."

She sighed. "Audrey I won't be home later. Remember? I had to catch a flight back to Dallas last night."
