I woke up with a knife inside my chest. Groaning with pain, I sat up, shakily rubbing my eyes as my fingers dug through skin and bone. Biting my lips to stop from screaming, I tugged at the metallic object until I pulled it out of myself and the blood spilled onto my white garments.
I also noticed something else.
I had found something priceless. But my heart was nowhere to be seen.
Not that I ever wanted it in the first place. Taking in my surroundings slowly I giggled at first, and then let out a full blown laughter, standing tall as my wounds closed, my skin tightened and shaped themselves around my ribs, closing in until the blood wiped itself clean from my chest. My clothes were still stained but that didn't matter.
So, I'm finally here.
Walking ahead, I noticed that the place I had long been kicked out from looked still the very same. The same Forbidden Tree of Knowledge stood in the center, the garden looked the same, the blades of grass had barely withered and the sky was bluer than ever. I saw an angelic figure walk slowly, cloaked but his halo shining nevertheless though it seemed diminishing by each second.
"You there!" I called out.
The figure faltered, looked up and gasped, closing his mouth in apparent shock. He seemed like a complete idiot or he was going to scream for help; which would not help my case at all.
"Shut the fuck up," I hissed, reaching his side in an instant. I held the knife close to his neck. If he were to scream, I knew I would slash his pretty throat in an instant.
"Where is everyone?" I stared at him pointedly. The figure started panting, his face turning paler than possible as sweat dripped.
"Well um, some of them are inside the Sanctum..." he stuttered helplessly.
"Yeah well, we'll get to them," I looked away and then pressed the tip of the knife closer to his neck. "So where is god?"
"Yeah well, he's..." he visibly gulped. "He's..."
"Cat get your tongue?" I laughed before growling at him. "Where. Is. He.?"
"He's tending to the newcomers in the..in the..." he sighed. "In the baby angels department."
I squinted at him menacingly before withdrawing my knife. "Well. Come and show me then."
He paused as looked away. "Who are you?"
It was barely a whisper, but I heard it. He didn't know who I was. I felt my chest burn as my anger erupted in volumes.
"You, don't know who I am?" I hissed back.
"Well, none of us have seen you..." he paused, trailing away. "Here."
"Take me to that filthy rat," I spat out. "Then you'll know who I am."
The angel nodded serenely as he walked a good distance apart from me but not in front. I was pretty sure that he was scared shitless that I would kill him. I laughed internally at these meager folks.
We reached a golden door as I took in a deep breath but the angel pushed me aside and opened the door. I scowled at him. Fucking bitch. He took my opportunity to shine in a split instant. Without consulting me.
"Your Holiness, there is someone to meet you," he bowed deep.
"Who is it?" a booming voice sounded throughout and I saw little cherubs floating around to catch a glimpse.
"Remember me?" I smirked.
"Lilith," he stuttered before regaining composure. "What are you doing here?"
"Oh you know. I just came back to get my rights back."
"You lost them when you disobeyed Adam," he turned around and dismissed the little cherubs who turned back hesitantly. "And what are you wearing? If you decide to come here, don't try to tempt them."
"Oh right. I was thinking this wasn't quite enough," I smiled as I took the knife and cut the strip of cloth around my waist. I looked at the angel who brought me here who was standing there, terrified.
God turned around, exasperated and walked in one swift motion, as he calmly replied. "Get out."
"Or what?" I inched slowly, and casually walked around to where the angel stood.
"Stop this madness, Lilith."
I put the blade to the angel's neck who started to scream hysterically as God put his hand up and the angel had his mouth open with absolutely no sound coming out.
I frowned, lowering my knife. "What did you do?"
"Angels aren't supposed to cry and babble about things wrong. They are supposed to shine hope," he turned away as the angel's voice returned and his tears dried up. Pulling his hood over himself, he started to walk out.
"And get a grip on yourself."
"Wow, you don't even treat your own people with respect," I laughed maniacally. "How pathetic."
God turned away and started clearing the training space.
"I have all the rights to this place," I screamed back.
"Keep deluding yourself."
Storming out, I ran as fast as I could. My legs carried me before my mind thought of any clear action. What was I thinking? I certainly wasn't thinking right. To expect that I would get whatever I wanted so soon.
I was lying to myself. "You're not even God. Not even close to the one I had heard tales of."
I ran without missing a beat until I noticed a flash of grey and a lowered head, sitting outside the Sanctum and flinching from insults. I neared the building until I saw many of them raise their heads.
"Newcomer," they raised their eyebrows, eyeing me up and down.
"Not really," I shrugged. "What are you guys doing?"
"None of your business," one of them smirked.
"Shut up Gabriel," I glared back. "Really, now don't you remember me?"
Gabriel's eyes widened for a second before his features rearranged themselves to a scowl. "Yeah? And? Here to cause some more trouble is it?"
"Not at all. Just looking for Adam," I smiled back sweetly. "And Eve."
"You really aren't allowed in here, you know," he flew up close to my face, pointing his sharp nail under my chin.
I felt a hot rush of anger boil within me, my veins on fire as I gritted my teeth as I took a step forward. Gabriel's eyebrows inched higher as I wrapped my fingers around his neck and applied pressure.
"Don't. Test. Me," I responded as he choked and tried to unwrap my fingers but failed miserably. I released him and pointed my knife at him. "Or try anything stupid now."
