(Soleil's POV)

It was my consciousness that I gained back first.

I eyes were heavy, feeling almost glued shut. And that dang ringing sound that just wouldn't stop.

I regained my sense of touch next.

From what I could tell, I was laying on a very comfortable bed... and had on a night gown? Death  does not feel like this. I would know, I met him.

After what seemed like hours, my eyes finally fluttered open and the ringing came to a dull stop. It wasn't until my vision cleared and I got a glimpse of an unfamiliar canopy did I really become aware of where I was. Or more likely, where I wasn't.

I fumbled around until I found the cool metal of my hidden weapons which were, thankfully, still on me.

Carefully, I stepped out of the bed and examined the room.

Everything seemed expensive. Too expensive. Half of the items were covered on gold, the other half seemingly too delicate for me to touch.

The bed I had previously been sleeping on was positioned against the middle of the wall. On either side of the bed were curtains, ones I only suspected led to a bathroom of sorts. In front of the bed was a sitting area, surprisingly, with no TV. On the opposite wall of the bed laid a pair of french doors leading to a mystery.

I scuttled over to the windows on the right side of the bedroom. I was a few stories up it seemed. Jumping out from here would lead to fatal injuries, if not death.

Unless I'm already dead.

I cautiously stepped over to the white, gold embellished door and pressed my ear against it. The other side seemed just as quiet as my own room.

Slowly, I opened the door, internally cursing as it released a rather loud click. I peaked my head out, checking to make sure no one was in the hall. With that, I slithered out, closed the door behind me, and ran.

I tried making my footsteps as quiet as humanly possible. I was lost inside the maze of hallways, always checking first before turning into another one. Dead end upon dead end was all I was getting.

I didn't stop for a second until I heard someone yell, "The girl escaped!"

With a new found fear, I ran harder, no longer trying to hide the sound of my footsteps as the ones behind me seemed to draw closer and closer.

Without looking I turned a corner and fell on top of a someone. I looked at the brown headed girl, her brown eyes clearly showing her fear.

The thundering steps were closer than ever, most likely about to turn the corner I had just stumbled on. To just my luck, the road ahead led to yet another dead end. Mumbling a quick apology, I stood up, grabbing my anklet in the process. Just as my pursuers rounded the corner, I grabbed the girl and pulled her to me, my now short sword against her throat.

"Take another step and the girl dies!"

My followers stopped, hands out, ready to attack when commanded. I looked over each of their figures. Each adorned a similar, long coat, each with different colors and embroidery. The strange thing is, they all felt mortal?!

A girl with black hair wearing blue coat was the first to speak.

"By order of the Second Army, I command you to surrender and release the Sun Summoner."

I blinked a few times before replying. "Order of what... and who?"

They all stared at me with dumbfounded faces as the girl I was holding continued to tremble.

"Look Lady," I continued. "By the sound of your accent, it sounds like I'm in Britain. I know Americans can be scary and fat, but I'm just a lost foreigner who needs a ride home. Thanks for letting me stay in that nice room, but could you please point me to the closest airport and I'll be out of your greasy hair."

The one woman blanked before blushing an embarrassed shade of deep red. Before she could reply, a man stepped out of the shadows from the side of the group. Unlike the others, he was clad in black and held an aura of authority and respect.

Now this handsome man was definitely not mortal.

"We are not here to attack you, but could you please release our little friend you have there?"

I paused for a moment, almost having completely forgotten the girl in my arms, still trembling with a sword at her throat.

"I'm sorry, but seeing as I don't know where I am, or what you are, I still feel the need to hold onto some leverage."

The first girl spoke up again. "We're Grisha," she said with an obvious voice.

I held a confused look on my face.

"The Second Army?"

I confusion only grew with her words.

"Practice-rs of the Small Science??"

Nothing. Nada. Zilch. Zero.

"It seems," the man in black interrupted. "You have many questions for us. But we also have many for you. Like how you came falling out of the sky like a shooting star."

"I what?!"

The man gave a small smile.

"We will answer your questions, if you release the girl and answer ours."

I pondered for a moment. Clearly the girl I had was worth something special to them if I still considered her a bargaining chip. But, if I escaped now, they'll be after me. So...

"I accept."

I let go of the girl and she scrabbled to get with the others. She was escorted away by a rude looking man in a red coat.

I looked back the man in black. He dismissed the others, all of the with hesitant looks, leaving just us in the glamorous hall.

"Just who are you?" I asked. I was itching to know, as his whole essence just felt off somehow.

"General Kirigan. And what, may I ask, is your name?"

"Soleil Castillanos," I grumbled out.

The man who I now know as General Kirigan gave a small smile. There was a slight moment of silence before I questioned, "And where, General Kirigan, might I find myself to be?"

"Why, Soleil, you are currently standing in the Little Palace which resides in Os Alta, on the West side of Ravka."

"The what in where-" I had started asking before being knocked out by some force. It wasn't until soft, cool arms caught me on my way to the ground did I truly go out like a light.

Dang men and their stupidly good looks.
