It was getting tough sleeping next to her and holding her every night. Jin was thankful when her period came again, she'd be in pain, and his brain would stop telling him to sleep with her.

"Jin, I'm sorry I won't be able to go with you today to get that ball pit for the kids."

He knew exactly why, but he wanted to make sure and see if she was still shy. "Oh, why is that? Are you not feeling well?"

She shook her head no, "My period is back. Sorry for the hassle, but I'll need tight cuddles tonight. I hate being a burden to you."

She looked worried about upsetting him. If she only knew how excited he was to have any excuse to hold her. Every night, he listened to her touching herself in the bathroom, and then he'd sneak away so he could get himself off. She was so beautiful; her hair was bright red, and her eyes were the bluest blue he'd ever seen.

She's a tiny little thing; she barely comes to his chest. She's curvier than most girls in Korea, and let him say he was fucking here for it. She'd gained some weight in the month that he'd been there; he told her no more rationing and meant it.

"Don't worry about it, Kenz; I can stay home today. We don't need anything."

She shook her head, "No, the kids were so excited about the ball pit. Their lives are already so upside down. I don't want to break promises to them."

She was right; they didn't deserve that. He kissed her on the forehead, which shocked both of them. "I'll be back quickly, I promise." She waved goodbye, and he walked across the hall and told the kids he was leaving, and he'd be back soon. He turned the elevator back on, and down he went.

They boarded up the front with wood so you couldn't just smash the glass and get in; he looked out the peepholes to ensure it was clear before he undid the chain. He set the trap so that no one could get through since he needed to leave the door unlocked.

Once he knew they were secure, he was off. It was going to take him a while. The store was about a mile away. Jin took off jogging. He hadn't seen a chomper since that day he met them a month ago. It had to have been her blood that brought them. He made good time and got to the store in less than 15 minutes. He didn't push himself too hard, just in case he needed to fight.

Jin grabbed a shopping cart and filled it with the ball pit/bouncy house they saw the last time they were there. He grabbed a few bags of those balls and a pump. He walked a few aisles over and ended up in the bedding department; he didn't mind sleeping in his mom's bed, but he didn't like sleeping with her bedding.

Jin knew Kenzie's favorite color was pink, and it didn't bother him, so he picked out bedding that he thought she'd like. He threw it in the cart. When he turned the corner, he didn't see the piece of metal sticking out. It cut his calf, Fuck, he thought.

This isn't good. He wouldn't be able to run with this, and that's a mile he'll have to walk bleeding. Jin hurried up and tied it up. He knew it wouldn't stop a chomper from smelling it, but he shouldn't lose too much blood that way.

He slowly made his way out of the store, on high alert and stressed out. About a quarter of a mile from home, he heard them; there were three. They looked younger; they must have been mission-essential. They attacked all at once. He pulled the katana from his back, swung, removed the first head, and then focused on the other two.

He was starting to get dizzy; all the movement made his wound bleed more freely. He got hit from behind, and when he fell to the ground, his sword cut his arm. They were starting to go wild now with all the blood. Jin was losing focus, but he had to kill them. He had to get back to Kenzie and their kids.
