Her stomach dropped and twisted, she felt like she was going to vomit as the human's gaze wondered her figure, crimson eyes now unreadable. His grip was firm, hand sweaty with a fiery warmth that matched his hot breath she could feel tingle her face. She could finally see the boy clearly now, his spiky blonde hair, sharp nose and pointy teeth...

She trembled in his grip, breathing shaky and head screaming, she tried to think of what to do instead of staring at the boy like a deer in headlights.

Can't run. Can't hide. But can fight.

He couldn't help but stare at the miniature woman in his hands, visually inspecting her worn, baggy clothes, trying to figure her out. His mind was on potential quirks her size could be and gaze elsewhere, until her felt her tiny body shudder in his hand. It only took him glancing over for her struggling to start, face full of fear and determination.

Kicking her legs, wriggling her upper body and thrashing her fists into his fingers. His intrigued expression dropped to an unimpressed scowl; he rolled his eyes.

"That's fucking pointless. Even if you were to get free, you'd just fall." He said, trying to judge what the drop between his hand and the floor would be for her. Maybe 25 feet?

Plus he'd catch her again.

Her struggling ceased and she looked at him, bewildered. He frowned back, unbothered by her dumb expression. He had some questions to be answered.

He pushed up from his crouch to his full height, she gasped, clinging to his fingers hard as she looked down at her fatal drop, which had now tripled. She looked back up to the boy and flushed a bright red. His face neutral but slightly tilted in slightly confusion as he looked at her.

"For someone so goddamn small, I'd never guess you'd be afraid of heights..." He muttered, tucking his arm in towards him, so she was now facing his stomach.

Facing his stomach pissed off.

Afraid of heights? She wasn't afraid of heights, she was afraid of his sweaty butterfingers being the only thing between her and the cold, solid, unforgiving floor below! She wasn't afraid of climbing her hook, being on the dining room tables, she'd even dropped down onto the chairs before! Anyone would be afraid of being dropped.

She stopped this angry inner monologue to think about what the hell she was doing right now. She couldn't understand why she was so worked up about what he had said, there were bigger things to think about, like the fact she was in the hand of a currently walking human. Dread settled into her chest at the dawning realisation of her unknown fate.

He could do anything. Throw her into the outside world without the safety of a house. Kill her. Keep her as a-

Screwing her eyes tight shut, pushing down the thoughts. Just like her mother used to say, 'Why bother yourself with the futures challenges in moments where you are safe?'

Except that didn't really help now, sorry mom, but this is a crisis not a challenge. And I'm certainly not safe.

He strolled over to the kitchen counter, taking his phone from his pocket and tossing it down, before leaning his elbows on the ledge. Not putting the woman down. He could see her slight panic at this, looking from his hand to him and back.

"You're a spy, aren't you?" He hissed, ready to pick apart her expression like an interrogator.

Her face fell into a dumbfounded stare, mouth slightly agape and eyes wide, but she said nothing. A long silence followed, tension creeping into the air around them like a thick mist with some small hints of awkwardness.
