Vera

I have to get to my first class. I reach my locker and pull out my stuff for my classes. Running down the hall, I reach my first class. I sit in the back row.

"Miss Ramirez, being almost late is not quite like you."

"My bad, sir."

Surprisingly people aren't staring. Maybe they don't know about last night?

"Alright everyone open your textbooks to page 448, today we are learning about-"

The girl in front of me turned around, "Is it true?"

"Is what true?"

"Everything that happened last night."

Fuck.

"Y-yes."

"Oh shit, is Alex okay?"

"Yeah he's fine, he just broke his arm."

I turn my head to the teacher and try to pay attention but she keeps nagging me about last night.

"Listen, can you like not talk about it, I'm trying to pay attention."

"Yeah sorry, I'm just worried about him."

"Why, what is he to you?"

"We used to be friends."

"Oh, what do you mean used to?"

"I'll tell you at lunch?"

"Yeah, sure."

It's been 30 minutes. RINGING! That's the bell. I get up and pick up my things. I walk into the hallway to my next class. Geez, people love to stare. I roll my eyes and walk into my second class. I was the first one there. Thank the gods.

Three kids come in and walk up to me, "So it's true?" the boy in the middle asked me.

"What?"

"You know, about last night."

"Yes it's true, now get the fuck out of my face."

They sit in the front, farthest from me. Great. More people come in. Each one looks at me. I shouldn't have come to school today.

At lunch, I walk in and see my friends.

"Hey, Vera." They all day at the same time.

"Hey, guys."

"So is it true?" Liz asks me.

I roll my eyes and smack my forehead, "Yes it's true."

"Is Alex okay?"

"Yeah, he's fine."

"What happened to Hunter?" Dana asked me,

"I don't know, go ask him." My friend Leah said looking in a certain direction.

I froze. "What?"

"He's at his table."

"Why is he here?"

"I don't know."

"I thought he wouldn't be here!" Everyone got quiet, making me give them a confused look.

I feel a tap on my shoulder, I turn around.

There he was. Hunter. I should have stayed home. I close my eyes and open them again thinking he'll go away. But he didn't.

"Vera, can we talk about last night?"

I feel like crying every time I see him. "Uh, sure."

He pulls me up and takes me by the arm into the bathroom.
